Region Region: Regions are places that have at least one common characteristic. Common elements in a region are able to have physical and human characteristics. The three types of regions are perceptual, formal, and functional. A Perceptual region can be the beliefs that people have as part of there cultural identity. Also it can be the way people view certain regions. A formal region is when all people are subjected to the same laws. In certain areas many characteristics are found, for example : states, countries, and cities, which are all part of political regions as well. A functional region is a place that relies mostly on the main city in that state. For example : in Rhode Island, the core city is Providence. Most people rely on Providence for taxes, bills, etc. Part of the reason people rely on Providence more then other cities is because it is the capital of this state and it is one of the largest cities in Rhode Island. Region

Region: Regions are places that have at least one common characteristic.

Location

Location: Absolute location is the exact location of a place using coordinate graphs and lines of longitude and latitude. Absolute location can also be the exact location of a city, town, state or country. Absolute location is a way of finding places throughout the earth. You can find the location of yourself and the address, city, town, state or country of others using the GPS and GIS systems ; which tell you exactly

where you are. If you are looking for a location you don't know off the top of your head GPS are common devices used to find them. Another type of location is relative. Relative location is when one place has something in common with another. For example the relative location of Kansas City ; Missouri is East of Kansas City, Kansas.

Movement

Movement: Movement is the change of places and positions. Places don't exist in "isolation". Movement of goods, ideas, and people are examples of the of places and positions. People all over The world interact to make sure the right things get to there proper places and the correct positions. People also communicate through movement. Some examples of how we communicate are trade information by email, internet interaction and many political events.

Place

Place: Place is based on the population of a state, city, country, or town. Also how many people ; live, work and visit these places. What are the languages, cultures and beliefs of the certain area? What are there economy, governs and government like? Part of place involves the traits of human and physical characteristics. The physical characteristics include mountains, rivers, ponds, beaches, soils and

weather. Human characteristics are part of peoples ideas, actions, and changes. Some of these changes are the way buildings look, the way roads are built, and the way food can be sold. People get there image of places by the experiences they have ; such as the places they have traveled and visited, the things they've seen and participated in, the people they are friends with, etc.

Human Environment Interaction

Human Environment Interaction: (Also known as H-E-I) is the way humans interact with there environment "bad and the ugly". People examine the changes that are made to there town or city (which is usually a lot of peoples most common environments). People rely on certain things based on the environment they live in. This includes the stores they shop at, the markets they get there food at, and restaurants they eat at. People from all different environments interact in all different ways based on there culture.

Geography

Geography: Geography is the study of people, places, and things all around the world. Geography is also the study of maps. By studying people and places we learn the different cultures and regions that take place throughout the world, the different beliefs and ideas of others, the movement and connections people have with each other, etc. The maps tell us the names of countries, states and populated cities. They can also tell us the population of people in the area, the amount of stores, and number of animals. Geography is based on Location, Human Environmental Interaction, Place and Movement. Also known as the 5 Themes of Geography. Geography also tells us the weather, climate and times of places all over. Geography tells us everything we need and want to know about the world we live in.
