AnimalsAnimals have 2 groups vertebrates and nonvertebrates. Vertebrates are split into 5 groups, Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians, fish, and birds. A vertebrate is an animal with a spine or back bone, but an invertebrate is an animal without a back bone or spine. Most animals are very smart.

MammalsMammals are vertebrates. A mammal is anything with hair, like a human or a cat. Believe it or not, whales and dolphins are mammals, even though they live in the ocean. Mammals are mainly born live not from eggs.

ReptilesA reptile is a cold blooded animal. For example a lizard is a reptile. A snake is also a reptile. Most reptiles hatch from eggs and not live. Reptiles don’t usually live in water, except some turtles, but they mainly live on land. The first reptiles were first discovered over 300 million years ago.

Invertebrate A invertebrate is something without a backbone (spine). A snail is an invertebrate.

FungiA fungus is any member of the group of eukaryotic organisms that includes unicellular microorganisms such as yeasts and molds, as well as multicellular fungi that produce familiar fruiting forms known as mushrooms.

BacteriaBacteria constitute a large domain of prokaryotic microorganisms. Typically a few micrometres in length, bacteria have a number of shapes, ranging from spheres to rods and spirals.

Protists Protists are a diverse collection of organisms. Protists are microscopic and unicellular. The cells in a protists are highly organized. Protists gain nutrition in many ways.
