Overview of Commissioning for BSC6000
Preparations for equipment
A minimum of one BTS is connected to the BSC6000. The
commissioning of the BTS is completed and the BTS can provide the
basic functions.
A minimum of one MSC is connected to the BSC6000. The
commissioning of the MSC is completed and the MSC can provide the
basic functions.
A minimum of one PCU is connected to the BSC6000. The
commissioning of the PCU is completed and the PCU can provide
basic PS functions.
Three single-mode MSs and one dual-mode MS used for testing are
ready and subscribed in the HLR.

Process of System Commissioning
The commissioning process for the BSC6000 is as follows according
to priority:
Load the BSC host software
Load the BTS software
Verify the Abis interface
Verify the Ater interface
Verify the A interface
Verify the Pb interface
Connect the BSC6000 to the M2000
Refer to the presentation “HUAWEI BSC6000 Software Management”
for steps of loading BSC host software and BTS software.

Ensure the following condition before
loading the BSC host software:
The BSC host software (all files in \
BSC6000\bscswm\area1\software)
exists under the directory of LMT

Commissioning for BSC
The commissioning for the BSC comprises the following operations

Purpose
To check whether the switchover function of active and standby boards is operational.
Procedure
Choose the menu BSC Maintenance > Maintain Device > Switch Over BSC Board .
Perform active/standby switchover tests for all boards that work in active/standby mode.
Perform active/standby switchover once again to restore the status of the active and
standby boards.

Querying License
Purpose
To check whether the feature services based on the License file are valid.
Procedure
Choose the menu BSC Maintenance > Maintain License > Query License and
click Query in the Query License window.
The query results are displayed in the list.

Purpose
To complete the processing of real-time alarms before the interface commissioning.
Procedure
Choose Alarm Maintenance> Browse Alarm to query real-time alarms.
Process each alarm according to the alarm processing steps in Online Help.

Verifying Abis Interface
Ensure the following conditions before
verifying the Abis interface:
The BSC commissioning is passed.
The physical transmission between the
BSC and the BTS is connected.
The commissioning for the BTS used for
testing the Abis interface is completed
and the BTS is in “cell to be set up”
state.
The process of verifying the Abis

Purpose

bears the Ater interface (GTCS is locally configured).
Procedure
Search the subrack, slot, and port information for the Ater link to be verified.
For example, Ater connection channel 0 corresponds to BM subrack 0, BM slot
16, BM port 0, TC subrack 3, TC slot 16, and TC port 0.

of the A interface E1.

Verifying Control Plane Link
Purpose
To check whether the control plane link of the A interface is operational.
The control plane link indicates NO.7 transmission link. It can be categorized into
MTP2 link, MTP3 link, and SCCP link.
The MTP2 is processed by the GEIUT board in the GEPS subrack. The MTP3
and SCCP are processed by the GXPUM board in the GEPS subrack.
The link status is queried in the sequence of MTP2 link, MTP3 link, and SCCP
link.

Step 1: In the main interface, select the tab BSC information.

The obtained Ater Connection Channel Index NO. is 0. The related
MTP2 is processed by CPU 0 of the GXPUM in slot 0.

Step 3: In the main interface, select the tab BSC Information and click the button
Ater Connection Channel.
The Ater connection channel 0 is configured in the GEIUT board in slot 14 of the
GEPS subrack 0.

Step 4: Choose the menu BSC Maintenance > Maintain Transmission and
Signaling > Query MTP2 Link State.
Type 0 in Subrack NO., 14 in Slot NO., and 0 in Link NO. and then click the
button Query.
If Link Status is Service Subscribed, the MTP2 link is operational.

Step 5: Choose the menu BSC Maintenance > Maintain Transmission and
Signaling > Query MTP3 Link State .
Select subrack 0, slot 14, link 0, GXPUM 0, and CPU 0 and then click the button
Query.
If the link status is available, the MTP3 link is operational.

Procedure
Step 6: Choose the menu BSC Maintenance > Maintain Transmission and
Signaling > Maintain SCCP .
Type 0 in DSP Index, select Query in Operation, and click the button Query.
If both DSP Status and SCCP Status are Allowed and Congestion Status is
Normal, the DSP status of the SCCP link is normal.

Procedure
Step 7: In the tab page Subsystem Operation, type the subsystem index NO.,
select Query in Operation, and click the button Query. Query the status of
subsystems 0 to 3.
If Subsystem Status is all Normal, the SCCP link subsystem is operational. If
the MTP2, MTP3, and SCCP link status are all normal, the control plane link of
the A interface is operational.

Verifying User Plane Channel
Purpose
To check whether the user plane
channel of the A interface is operational
when E1/T1 bears the A interface.
Procedure
Choose the menu BSC
Maintenance > Maintain User
Resource > Maintain A Interface
Circuit.
Select the GTCS subrack NO., type
the CIC number range, and click
Query.
If CIC status is Idle or Busy, the A
interface circuit channel is
operational.

the Query button.
If PBSL link status is normal, the control plane link of the Pb interface is operational.

Purpose
To check whether the BSC6000 can provide basic services.
The basic services can be categorized into speech services, packet
services, and O&M management services.
Before verifying the basic services, start the related interface message
tracking on the LMT.

Procedure of Dialing Test Expected Result
Speech service
Use a test MS to dial a fixed-line phone for 50 times, and use the fixed-line phone to dial the test MS for 50 times.
The call proceeding success ratio is more than 90%.Speech is clear and no evident noise exists.
Use a test MS to dial another MS for 50 times.
The call proceeding success ratio is more than 90%.Speech is clear and no evident noise exists.
Data service
Use a test MS to send fax to the fax machine, and use the fax machine to send a fax to the MS.
The fax file is sent and received correctly.
Use a test MS to test GPRS or EDGE service functions.
The data rate is consistent with the test data rate obtained in the lab.
O&M management
While services are running, perform active/standby switchover 5 times for the boards GXPU, GSCU, GTNU, GPUC, GEIU, and GGCU.
The switchover success ratio is more than 90%. The running services are not affected.

Dialing Test for Feature Service
Purpose
To check whether the BSC6000 can provide License feature services.
Feature services vary according to offices. This presentation describes
inter-system handover service, location service, and AMR service.
Before verifying the feature services, start the related interface message
tracking on the LMT.

Procedure of Dialing Test Requirement
Inter-system handover service
Handover a dual-mode MS from the GSM network to the UMTS network for 50 times. Handover the dual-mode MS from the UMTS network to the GSM network for 50 times.
The call proceeding success ratio is more than 90%.Speech is clear and no evident noise exists.
Location service
Use a test MS to initiate a call. Locate the MS while the connection is in hold.
The MS position meets the precision requirements.
AMR service
Use a test MS to dial a fixed-line phone for 50 times. Select the speech version at AMR.
The call proceeding success ratio is more than 90%.Speech is clear and no evident noise exists.

Connecting BSC6000 to M2000
Perform the following operations on the Telnet terminal of the
BSC6000:
Run the route command to query the configured route information.
The information about the route to the M2000 is displayed. The route
information is configured on the GBAM server.
If route information exists, the operation is completed.
If route information does not exist, run the route command.
Set Destination Network Address to M2000 Server IP Address, set
Destination Address Mask to M2000 Server IP Address Mask, and set
Forward Routing Address to Router IP Address.
