Thank you for your continuing support of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. For the fiscal year July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012, our parish budget calls for $21,751.00 to be do-nated weekly at the Sunday collection. The collection for Sunday, April 22, 2012 was $19,757.20 in addition to ap-proximately $1,645.40 which is donated weekly in April via automatic debit. The collection is not only used for operat-ing expenses each week, but also for any ongoing repair work, upgrades, etc. to our parish facility.

The Office of Safeguard the Children assists these permanent Parish Committees in implementing child sex-ual abuse prevention education, Safe Environment poli-cies, procedures and resources.

A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a ques-tion, "Boys and girls, what do we know about God?" A hand shot up in the air. "He is an artist!" said the kin-dergarten boy. "Really? How do you know?" the teacher asked. "You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... — OLA SUMMER COFFEEHOUSE NIGHTS —

With summer just around the corner, why not spend an evening enjoying some refreshments and watching (or participating with!) some of the talent from our own par-ish? Our first ever summer coffeehouse night will be on Friday, June 1st at 7:00pm in Assumption Hall! Save the date!

OLA Summer Coffeehouse Nights will be a free event and is open to the whole family! The evening can feature sing-ing acts, dancing acts, poetry reading, maybe even some magic acts! It all depends on what parishioners sign up for! Coffee, cookies, and light refreshments will be served, but if you would like to bring any refreshments it would be appreciated.

St. Julie’s Chapel is open from 8am to 9pm DAILY. You do not need to be signed up for an hour of adoration to stop by the chapel to pray and enjoy some personal time with God. Please stop by anytime to pray for a few minutes or as long as you like! We especially need committed adorers the following times:

Fridays 3:00-4:00am & 3:00-4:00pm Saturdays 6:00-7:00pm

————— Hermits of St. Giles —————— Greetings to You, Spring is with us. We can see it in all the beautiful budding flowers and the trees growing their leaves back. The rains have bathed the land to nourish all the living. When I pray I often think of my prayers as rain gently falling on the souls of all people and especially those who I am asked to pray for. The image of rain cleansing the soul and healing those deep seated wounds we may have. God's mercy flowing over all creation. When you pray do you use your imagination? It is a wonderful way to get closer to Christ Jesus when you can imagine He is sitting right next to you as your dearest friend would. He gives you strength with His energy protecting you and comforting you. Try imagin-ing all holiness is surrounding you when you give yourself time for prayer. Please plan to join us for a special evening with Paul Brogan. Paul was one of our very well-received speak-ers at our Spiritual Formation Day last February. We are fortunate to have him return to OLA for another talk on the subject of Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is one of today’s most intriguing, yet still broadly misunderstood concepts. Until recently, little attention has been paid to forgiveness in the behavioral, medical or social sciences. However, the concept of forgiveness has held immense philosophical and reli-gious importance. Jesus is the model of forgiveness and asks us to forgive those who hurt us. However this is not always easy!

We now know that our understanding of the mechanics of forgiveness has a direct impact on our effectiveness, overall practice and most importantly, our spiritual, physical and emotional well-being. This presentation will provide you with an understanding of the link be-tween unresolved anger and forgiveness and the heal-ing that can take place through effective interpersonal forgiveness. It will provide you with powerful new ways to integrate forgiveness into various disciplines.
