It is a partnership business consisting of four (4) members.

Nature of business

This business deals with the export of quality sugar of the brand Demerara Gold at the best

price to customers in foreign countries. It caters for all customers and markets that demand

quality brand sugar for all their needs. This business also provides other businesses with raw

sugar for resale or personal use.

Mission Statement

The main aim of this business is to maximize customer satisfaction by distributing the best brand

sugar to customers and markets at the lowest price possible so that their needs are met and they

are contented with the products provided.

Vision Statement

4th Power Exports was established on January 1st, 2015. As the business progressed we were able

to build our brand name and obtain a large market. We have learned about our customers in New

Amsterdam and provided them with quality products and services which later helped us to satisfy

customers all around Guyana. Our domestic market is very important in our achievement which

is why we have outlined a five (5) year plan of what we plan to achieve in the future.

In the next five (5) years 4th Power Exports plans to form relations with the United States of

America in order to conduct the export of sugar in their Country.

On the 20th of August 2016, we plan to enter the United States market to advertise our product to

Jamaica Avenue, Queens, New York.

In October, 2016 we will distribute our product to customers and markets for sale.

Hoping that all business goes well, in 2018 we will extend our business beyond Jamaica Avenue

to other states in the foreign country.

In 2020 as the business expands more we would form relationships with other countries around

the world.

Justification Of Target Market

4thPower Exports is located at 14 Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, East- Berbice, Guyana. This

business has chosen the United States of America to conduct business. Its target market is

located in Jamaica Avenue, Queens, New York. We chose this location because its population

consists of many people that are from the Caribbean who demand sugarcane sugar and they are

familiar with the brand Demerara Gold. Jamaica Queens is also the home of some importers of

the Demerara Gold brand sugar. We believe this is an excellent market to form bonds with

retailers and convince them to allow us to provide them with raw sugar since we can give them

exactly the type of sugar that their market requires.

Sources of Finance

4th Power Exports was able to start the business with help from all members of the business as well as help from external sources such as a loan from Republic Bank Guyana Limited. Republic bank provides “Make it happen loans for all the things you want in life”.

Since we are new borrowers of the bank we were required to have in our possession the following documents if we wanted to apply for a ‘make it happen’ loan:

1. Two (2) forms of identification

2. A current Job Letter

3. A recent payslip

4. A recent Utility Bill

Our next step was to find a brank closest to us and make the necessary transactions. We obtained information about the closest branch from the Republic Bank website.

Linkages

4thPower Exports has developed two (2) types of linkages both backward and forward linkages.

Forward linkages are the customers and markets that we sell our products to. These linkages provides profit for the business and also free advertisement as they use the product and spread the word to other customers and businesses. Our forward linkages will be those residing in Jamaica Avenue, Queens, New York, United States.

Backward linkages are the suppliers to the business. Our supplier of sugarcane is the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO). They are the largest supplier of sugarcane in Guyana thus the prices that are offered to us are low so we can purchase more. We depend on GUYSUCO for the survival of our business because without them we would not able to supply our customers.

Government Regulations4th Power Exports has evolved from a local business to an international one by exporting to another country. In order for us to do this we had to obtain an exporting license.

A license is a legal document which gives permission to a business to operate.In order to obtain an export license we had to contact the Guyana Revenue Association (GRA). GRA then outlined to us what was needed in order to get the export form completed. With the license we are able to export our product legally to foreign markets. If we do not have a license our customers would feel that we are a threat to them and they would not want any dealings with our business. By obtaining the license we assure customers that we are operating in a legal and safe environment.
