Do I Need to Register?
• No…
• If you are enrolled as a 4th grader at Glen Loch, Hailey or
Lamar, you are already registered for Wilkerson!
• All 1st Day forms will be completed on-line. Look for
email with link in July or August.
• On-line forms will require an email address. Verify now!
• Rollover will occur in July and you will start receiving
Wilkerson emails.
Hours, Arrival &
Dismissal
School Hours – 8:50am-4:00pm
• Front Doors Open @ 8:00am for students – no staff on
duty prior to that time.
• Car Riders enter/exit through front doors.
• Walkers/Bikers enter through front doors and exit
through grade level (front of building).
• Buses enter/exit through back doors.
• All students are scanned out at dismissal.
Transportation Change
• Send a note with parent signature in advance (and no later
than the morning of the change.)
• In an emergency (only), the change may be made over the
phone if a Code Word is available.
• We cannot guarantee changes will be delivered after
2:30pm.
• We cannot call students to the front in advance of parent
arrival.
• Students may not ride buses for which they are not
registered.
Registering for the Bus

• Must live at least one mile from Wilkerson.
• Must re-register each school year (starting in August).
• Will need your student’s 6-digit ID number. (Same as
library/lunch number.)
Learning Communities
• Learning Communities (LC) consist of 3 teachers:
• Language Arts
• Science/Social Studies
• Math
• Students rotate within the LC to each core subject area.
• In addition to academic classes, students will attend PE and
Fine Arts daily.
GT and or Advanced
• Students identified as GT in Math, Science, Language Arts
or Social Studies will already be placed accordingly.
• If a student is testing over the summer, we will receive that
information in August and adjust schedules as needed.
• Students may also be placed in an Advanced Math class if
they meet the criteria. Parents will be notified.
• GT Math and Advanced Math follow the same curriculum.
Meet the Teacher!
• Students will receive their homeroom
assignment in the mail prior to “Meet the
Teacher Night” in August.
• Postcards will be mailed the first week of
August.

General Information –
No Lockers
• Lockers are NOT available at Wilkerson.
• Students may bring a backpack/bag to keep
their belongings safe and organized.
• Space is very limited – no rolling
backpacks or binders.

Dress Code and Cell Phones
CELL PHONES and ELECTRONICS
• For safety purposes, student may use cell phones outside the building
to notify parents of their arrival to or departure from school. Prior to
entering the building, phones and ear buds/headphones must be
turned off and stored in the backpack.
• Students may not respond to a call/text during the school day. Doing
so will result in disciplinary action.
• iWatches, iPads, eReaders, personal video games, etc. may not be
used to send messages, access the internet, take photos, etc. during
the school day. eReaders may be used to read at teacher discretion.
Dress Code
DRESS CODE
• Clothing with inappropriate pictures or writing are
prohibited.
• Halter, racer back, spaghetti straps and muscle shirts are
prohibited unless covered by another shirt. Shirts must fit
appropriately.
• Heavy make-up/cosmetics may not be worn or applied at
school.
• No hats/hoods inside the building.
• Hair and hairstyle should not be distracting. No unnatural
colors or extreme haircuts (such as mohawks).
Dress Code
• Pants/shorts must fit at the waist.
• Shorts/skirts must reach fingertip length (even when
paired with leggings/tights).
• Closed toed shoes are required daily for PE (tennis shoes
preferred).
• Leggings/jeggings must be paired with a long, flowing
top that fully covers the hips.
General Information
• The following procedures are the same as the elementary
procedures, and should be an easy transition for both
students and parents:

• Medication at school – students may not transport meds
• Bus Information (you will have to register for the bus, as it
will be taking your student to a new campus; bus number
may change)
Food and Drink
• Healthy Snacks are allowed in the classroom at teacher
discretion.
• ONLY clear, non-carbonated water allowed in the
classroom.
• All other food and drink must be consumed in the
cafeteria during designated breakfast and lunch times.
Clubs and Activities
• A variety of clubs and activities will be offered. These
clubs may meet before, after or during school.
Information will be provided once school starts.

Fine Arts classes meet daily. One Fine Arts selection for the
entire year – no rotation.
Fine Arts selections require a year long commitment.

• Students learn to create art from observation
and expression with media such as pencil, colored
pencil, chalk and oil pastel, watercolor paint, and
more.
• Students should be prepared to learn and practice new
techniques beyond what they are familiar with.

School Supplies
• School supply lists will be sent home prior to the end of
the year via your 4th grade campus.
• We anticipate the ability to purchase pre-packaged school
supplies. Ordering info will be sent via your elementary
campus.

• April 24– Parent Info Night for Parents of Current 4th Graders @ 6pm in the
Wilkerson Gym – Due to limited space, we request this be a parents-only
event, if possible.
• Elective course info sheets will go home with students after their
Wilkerson visit – elective course selections will be submitted online.

• May 1 – Band @ College Park HS, time tba
• May 7 – Orchestra @ Wilkerson, 5:30-6:15 (parent info), 6:15-8:30
(instrument selection)

submitted, students will be placed in Art or Choir depending on
space/availability.)
