49ers Kids Club News

Dear 49ers Kids and Crib Club members, Wild Card weekend in the NFC was a big one for the 49ers, as they topped the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in below freezing conditions in the final seconds of the game. Kicker Phil Dawson, a 14-year NFL veteran, won his first playoff game of his career by kicking a 33-yard field goal as time expired to take the lead, 23-20. The 49ers are headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, this weekend to face the second seeded Carolina Panthers. After suffering a regular season 10-9 loss to the Panthers at Candlestick Park in November, the 49ers are looking to avenge Carolina and advance to the NFC Championship game for the third consecutive season. During this time of year, the players and coaches are still dedicating their time to football and the playoffs, but they also know how important their fans have been in their success throughout the season. Join the #QuestForSix campaign online at 49ers.com to print your badge and show your 49ers spirit throughout the playoffs! Membership for the 2013 Kids Club season will be honored through the offseason up through June 2014. While we will not be accepting new Gold members during the offseason months, current members will still be invited to events and encouraged to participate in special club contests. In July we will introduce a brand new Kids Club format. All pertinent information will be emailed and available on our social media outlets when it is released. There is still time to use your special Shop 49ers discount code this season! Wrestle Mania 31st at Levi’s Stadium

Imagine what a wrestling match between a current 49ers and WWE superstar would be like. It could happen in 2015. Just kidding...

With December’s announcement of WrestleMania 31 taking place at Levi’s® Stadium, the future home of the San Francisco 49ers, several members of the locker room started to relive their interests in the famous sports entertainment event.

49ers Tight End Vernon Davis attended the announcement as a 49ers representative and even jokingly told WWE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon that he would be a bodyguard if needed at the biggest event in sports entertainment. After the announcement, the 49ers locker room wrestling conversations went on for quite a bit. When the event was mentioned to Frank Gore, he chimed in that he liked “Stone Cold” Steve Austin the most. So that got us thinking, what did other members of the 49ers think about this exciting announcement? We asked a handful of them about their favorite wrestlers, WrestleMania dream matches, potential wrestling names, and finishing maneuvers.

#67 Guard Daniel Kilgore

Favorite Wrestler “Dusty Rhodes, ‘The American Dream.’” WrestleMania Dream Match “It would be against Goldberg and then Sting would come down from the rafters and we’d have a handicap match against Goldberg. And, we’d win.” Wrestling Name “Let’s see… ‘The Hillbilly,’ just because of my accent.” Finishing Move “Top rope frog-splash into a half-nelson. I’d make them tap out. Or, it could be a frog-splash off the top rope, then I get them into a ‘Boston Crab’ and they tap out."

#23 RB LaMichael James

Favorite Wrestler “It’s probably The Rock.” WrestleMania Dream Match “Somebody that’s not good. Kurt Angle.” Wrestling Name “It would be, 'He Hate Me.'” Finishing Move “’The Tap Out;’ that would be the name of it.”

#24 RB Anthony Dixon

Favorite Wrestler “Goldberg.” WrestleMania Dream Match “I’d would be against Goldberg and it would be a cage match. I used to love the cage matches.” Wrestling Name “Bat-dog-rilla.” Finishing Move “I used to love the spear and when he would hold them up, what did they use to call that? ‘The Jackhammer?’ Yeah, I’d use that. Bow!”

#96 LB Corey Lemonier

Favorite Wrestler “Shawn Michaels… Sweet chin music.” WrestleMania Dream Match “It’s going to be here in two years, I’m definitely going. It would be me and Kurt Angle.” Wrestling Name “It would be ‘The Lemon.’” Finishing Move “I would definitely have a submission move, or the one where Brock Lesnar just throws somebody around into the ropes.”

Game Day Q&A: Vernon Davis

Vernon Davis is leaps and bounds above the rest when it comes to playing his position and he’s passionate about being among the best to ever play professional football. The 49ers tight end is a standout athlete, a team leader and he’s also the only member of the current team to be named in the Top 10 Moments of Candlestick Park presented by SAP. “The Vernon Post,” Davis’ game-winning touchdown catch over the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFC Divisional Playoffs landed as the No. 2 greatest moment according to a vote by the 49ers Faithful. Davis recognized the play as a great achievement by his teammates and was proud to add a “game-winner” to his outstanding career in a 49ers uniform.

Gameday recently caught up with the 49ers tight end, now with 50 career touchdowns under his belt, to discuss his lasting memories of “The ‘Stick,” as well as his thoughts on his favorite football coach and this year’s team.

How would you describe your relationship with the 49ers Faithful? The 49ers Faithful are amazing. Great people. They’re all about the team. They’re all about the organization. Anytime you can have a fan base like that, you can’t replace it. I just take my hat off to the 49ers Faithful. Without them there wouldn’t be any 49ers.

What does the term “Faithful” mean to you? Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. That’s in Hebrews 11:1 if you go back and look at the bible. It’s everything. When you’re being faithful to something, you’re all about it. It doesn’t matter what comes your way, it cannot break you up. You will not remove yourself from that certain thing because you’re so into it, it doesn’t matter. You’re all about that one thing.

What makes the 49ers Faithful so unique? Growing up around Penn State, I thought their fan base was the best. And then being in the NFL, you’d think it would die down because we’re at the professional level. But the fans here, it just reminds me of college in Happy Valley with how supportive they are no matter our record.

[Cont’d] Game Day Q&A: Vernon Davis

How would you define this year’s 49ers team? This is the best team I’ve ever been on in my life. When I look at this team, I see a group of individuals who want to succeed. They want it all. That’s a great thing to have. We don’t have two or three leaders; we have 15 to 20 leaders. That’s how you win games. It’s how you bring a team to-gether, a great team. When I walk in that locker room, I get so excited. I know I’m not the only leader on this team. With that, everyone can be at ease because there’s nothing to worry about. If a rookie or someone is getting out of hand or slacking, I know I’m not the only one who is going to say something. Someone is going to back me.

What makes Coach Harbaugh so unique? “Attack each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!” Those are the words of Coach Harbaugh. I remember those words. That’s the type of guy he is. He’s the type of guy where he lights up a room. Whenever he walks into a room, he lights it up. He’s energetic. He’s funny. He’s just one of those coaches you dream of having. For me, it’s something I don’t take for granted. I’m excited. I want to be here for the rest of my life. I don’t want to go anywhere. If I can play up until I’m 75-80 years old, I’d do it, but unfortunately I can’t. I gotta go on and do something else, but while I’m here now I’m going to enjoy each and every day.

What do you like most about the 49ers offense? It’s one of the best offenses I’ve ever been in my life. It’s a tough offense, because the learning is extreme. There’s a lot to learn. It’s not a cookie-cutter offense. It’s really difficult. But once you learn it and you own it, it’s one of the most fun things you can be a part of. It’s definitely a great offense.

What’s your favorite memory of Candlestick Park? The game we played New Orleans, the one every calls “The Vernon Post,” that was something to remember. We were behind and all my life I wanted to be one of those guys to get the game winner. If I had to say one game though, it would be (2012 NFC Divisional Playoffs) against Green Bay where I had one catch. That was a special game and a special year. Even though we didn’t win the Super Bowl, we still made it and that was something I always wanted to do.
