Baptism & Baptism Class: Baptisms are held on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. The baptism class for parents is held one Saturday a month at 11:00 a.m. Please call the Parish Secretary to pre-register for the next available class. Sacrament of Matrimony: In accordance with the regulations of the Bishop of Arlington, couples must contact a priest and begin preparation at least six months prior to the wedding. Parish registration and active participation for a minimum of three months is required before preparation may begin. Couples who are living together will be asked to live separately during the preparation time as living together before marriage is sinful and harmful to the future marriage.
First Communion: For Children: Generally, First Communion is received when a child is in second grade. Preparation for First Communion is a two year process, and students must complete both first and second grade classes before receiving Holy Communion. Please contact the Religious Education Office with questions. Sacramental Preparation for Adults (RCIA): Adults who wish to receive Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation are invited to attend the Inquiry Class, taught by Father Saunders on Thursday evenings. Please contact the Parish Secretary or visit the website to register.
What does it mean to be an active Catholic? Those seeking to celebrate Marriage, have children baptized, or have a letter signed to serve as sponsors for Confirmation or Baptism should be parishioners and active, practicing Catholics. To be considered active, one must have been registered in the parish for at least three months, attend Mass regularly, and be committed to a stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. We encourage all parishioners to become active in one of the parish organizations.
In a community as large as Our Lady of Hope, our most effective means of verifying active participation is through the use of parish offertory envelopes or electronic giving, such as Faith Direct. If you choose not to participate in the support of the parish, or are unable to contribute at this time, please note your prayerful support on your envelope and place it in the weekly offertory. We will then be aware of your continued participation, and you will not be noted as "inactive" on our parish roster.

The BLA is critical to our diocesan needs and we are asking every household in our parish to participate to support this appeal to the extent that they are able. The BLA funds many programs, services, and ministries that serve people in need and further the Gospel mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese. Let us join together to do the Lord’s work—work that touches the lives and souls of thousands of people. Thank you!

CRS HELPING HANDS
Sunday Mass: If at all possible, assuming the priest can make it to the church, Mass will take place as scheduled.
Please Note: The upper parking lot between the church & the school is supposed to be plowed first. When attending Mass during snow, please park on the upper lot first, so that the rest of the parking lot can be plowed effectively.
Daily Mass: When Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) close because of inclement weather, the 6:45 a.m. Mass will be canceled. Call the parish office recording at (703) 433-6770 for the status of the 8:30 a.m. Mass. If schools are delayed, we will make every effort to have the 6:45 a.m. Mass.
Religious Education & Parish Activities: If LCPS closes for the day, closes early, or cancels night- time activities due to inclement weather, all parish activi-ties, including RE classes are canceled & the building is closed.
RCIA (Inquiry) Class: Fr. Saunders will decide about the RCIA class by 4:00 p.m. on the day of class & will change the message on his voicemail at the parish. Please call the parish office and choose option 7.
The WTOP website is usually quick to post weather-related cancellations. Look for the Closings & Delays sec-tion. Our Lady of Hope follows LCPS.
