T he Chamber Music and PerformanceOutreach Program is an opportunity for

ECYS musicians to combine their appreciation of chamber music with performances for underservedmembers of the community.

Chamber music originated as an intimate form of musicthat was played for its own sake, in the homes of musi-cians and music lovers. The social and musical pleasurederived from playing in a small ensemble makes it afavorite endeavor of professional and student musicians.

ECYS chamber musicians earn community servicethrough their participation in the program, and repre-sent ECYS at outreach performances and competitions.

The Chamber Music Program is offered to members of Symphony, Sinfonietta, Galbraith Honor Strings andthe El Camino Flute Ensemble. The chamber ensemblesrehearse weekly with a professional coach from mid-September through mid-May. Interested members mayapply through the ECYS office.

In addition to the Chamber Music Program, ECYS alsooffers an Orchestra Performance Outreach Program.Orchestra Performance Outreach develops new partner-ships and collaborations with community agencies, schools, and performing arts groups, to provide orches-tral performances for emerging and underserved audi-ences.The Orchestra Performance Outreach Program isopen to all members of ECYS.

F or more than four decades, the El Camino Youth Symphony has been an exemplary arts education organization. As the Bay Area’s foremost

non-profit instrumental training and education program, ECYS has given nearly10,000 youths at all levels of musical training the opportunity to develop bothsocially and artistically.

At a time when opportunities for music education are being extinguished, whilethe power of musical education to make a profound difference in the lives ofyouth has never been more universally understood, ECYS invites you to reach out and to fill a critical gap in public funding of the arts.

We welcome you to join us as advocates of young artists and their place in thegrand tradition of musical education and excellence. We depend upon generousfriends to fund our program, as tuition and ticket sales cover only a portion ofour expenses.

On behalf of the ECYS Board of Directors, thank you for your interest in music education, and thank you for considering supporting the El Camino Youth Symphony Association. We would be honored for you to join our family of supporters.
