450 Dual Zone Priority Mixer
HE 450 DUAL ZONE PRIORITY MIXER satisfies the requirements for paging mic andmono/stereo line mixing in clubs, restaurants, hotels, conference facilities, houses of
worship or anywhere multiple audio inputs must be combined and distributed. The compact onerack space mixer accepts two mono mic/line inputs (with +48V phantom power and low frequencyfilters) and four stereo line inputs.
FEATURES
Separate stereo and mono
output zones
Four stereo inputs (may be
used as mono)
Two mic/line inputs with +48v
phantom power
Three inputs have priority
override capability
Remote volume control
capability
Uncompromising sound quality
Each input may be assigned to a stereo outputzone, a mono output zone or both. A uniquehierarchical priority structure permits both mic/line inputs and the first stereo line input tohave priority over the other inputs assigned tothe same zone. For example, in a typicalconfiguration, a paging microphone assigned tothe stereo zone will have priority over abackground music source (connected to lineinput 5-6) in that zone. A jukebox (connectedto line input 3-4) in the same zone will havepriority over the background music, but thepaging signal will retain ultimate priority and

As a result of its inherent flexibility the 450 is aperfect low cost solution for many small systemrequirements. By accepting audio inputs fromvirtually any type of audio source and selec-tively routing to either the mono or stereooutput zone the 450 can save you time andmoney in the design and installation of yournext project. •

450 Dual Zone Priority Mixer
The audio microphone and line mixer shallbe a high performance unit occupying asingle rack space (1U).
The unit shall have two low impedance, balanced microphone/line inputs withconnection via female XLR. Eachmicrophone/line input shall have a rearpanel push-button which shall bypass themic preamp circuitry. Each input shall alsohave a switch to reduce the gain of the micinput by 20dB. Associated with eachmicrophone input shall also be a frontpanel level control potentiometer whosepurpose is to establish the level of themicrophone channel as it is mixed toeither a mono output zone, a stereo output

There shall be athreshold control in each zone mastersection which determines the minimumlevel of audio that will trigger the muting/ducking function. Priority shall beassigned as follows: Mic/Line In 1 –Priority 1, Mic/Line In 2 – Priority 2, LineIn 3-4 – Priority 3, Line In 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 –No Priority.

zone, or both simultaneously. Eachmicrophone input shall also have a firstorder low cut filter with a 100 Hz roll-offfrequency.
The mic/line mixer shall have four stereo, line level inputs. Each input shall beassignable to either a monaural outputzone, a stereo output zone, or both.Associated with each line input shall be alevel control potentiometer whose purposeis to establish the level of the line levelinput signal as it is mixed to either a monooutput zone, a stereo output zone, or bothsimultaneously.
The 450 shall incorporate a four levelpriority muting system as follows. High

Independent means shall be provided toremotely control the output level of themono output zone and the stereo outputzone. Rear panel jacks shall be provided toaccept connections from standard 50Klinear potentiometers for this purpose. When wired for remote control, the frontpanel output zone controls shall bedisabled.
The mic/line mixer shall be a Symetrix,Inc. model 450 Dual Zone Priority Mixer.
