THE 44 CLASS FLEETLISTING has been compiled

by Brad Peadon, with the help of members of the ‘Strange

Modelers of Universal Trains’ (SMUT) and others.

As it’s the first version it is open to correc-on.

Last run believed to be the Up Moss Vale via Wollongong

passenger service.

1990 - Sanding tests conducted on Royal Na-onal Park line.



First 44 class to operate on the original Moorebank Railway.

4433 passes through a disused Calwalla sta-on with the weekends only loco hauled service from Moss Vale to

Sydney via Wollongong.

A week later she was noted in Delec, this said to have been her last run.







Cab privately preserved at Werris Creek.




1960: Special run to Broken Hill for Menindee Lakes scheme.

Only 44 class to go to Wongawilli (Elouera)

4461 and 4463 currently wear the Qube version of the red terror colour scheme.

4470 - Only 44 class believed to have carried two coaEngs of the Red Terror livery.

4483 - The only 44 to carry all of the adopted government railway paint schemes.

4494 - Reverse livery with unique blue/black L7 logos on the front.

Reverse livery came in two differing versions, one seeing the #1 end yellow reach the start of the drivers side window, the oth-

er to the end of it.

GW: Green with white striping.

RT: Red Terror. Red with white lining.

FRB: Freightrail Blue. Blue with yellow and white lining.

AIR: Austerity Indian Red. Indian Red with yellow lining of non standard design.

AB: Austerity Blue. Dark blue with yellow lining.

CF: Chicago Freightcar Leasing Australia. Blue and silver.

SSR: Southern Shorthaul. Yellow with black lining.

NCR: New Central Railroad purple with grey and yellow lining.

SILV: Independent Rail all over silver.

RC: Red with cream lining

SIY: Silver with yellow lining.
