THIRD fRIDAYS AT THIRD DEgREE gLASS
fACTORY ARE HOT! What does an evening of fire, glass, art, and music add up to? At the Third Degree Glass Factory it’s a free evening of entertainment every third Friday of the month from 6 - 10 p.m. You can see glassblowing demonstrations, browse the art exhibits in the East Gallery, listen to live music beginning at 8 p.m., and discover art by local artists.
May’s Third Friday is on the 20th and it will be Mahvelous! It’s a combo of Cinco de Mayo, Mom, May flowers, Margaritas and Mojitos. Glass artists perform heat-defying acts with molten glass and ancient mojo.
Get “hands on” with the glass and make something yourself. Sign up at the front desk to work with our instructors to make a paperweight, glass tile keepsake or beads during Third Friday.
Dinner@Third Friday offers lite dining with My Chef Heidi’s tapas-style small plates at small prices. No reservations needed. Eat in the gallery or al fresco in the courtyard.
Third Fridays at Third Degree began about five years ago as a way raise awareness of contemporary glass art, show the mysterious and ancient process of working with hot glass, engage the community in a free, fun art activity, and introduce people to Third Degree classes and other edu-cational programs.
Jim McKelvey and Doug Auer established Third Degree Glass Factory in 2002 as a public-access glass art education center to promote contempo-rary glass art by offering education, studio rental for artists and students, and work for sale by local glass artists. It is the largest public glass art center in St. Louis.
Third Degree Glass Factory is located in what once was an abandoned 1930s service station at 5200 Delmar, between Union and Kingshighway
