42nd Street Construction Information

What You Need to Know

Beginning Monday, March 7:

42nd

Street will be limited to one lane, westbound traffic only from

I-380 to Northwood Drive.

Traffic traveling north and south on Northwood Drive will still be able to turn

west onto 42nd Street.

The City and its contractor is doing everything they can to accelerate construction and get

the project done as quickly as possible. To accomplish this, 42nd

St between I-380 and

Wenig Road will be closed later in the construction season, when school is out of session.

Construction and Staging Schedule

March 7 – early June

One-way westbound traffic only from I-380 to Northwood

Two-way traffic from Northwood to Wenig

Traffic traveling north and south on Northwood Drive will still be able to turn

west onto 42nd Street.

Early June (when school is out)

42nd

Street closed between Wenig Road and I-380 (local traffic only between

Northwood and I-380)

Wenig Road intersection at 42nd

Street will remain open

Northwood intersection closed

After completion of Northwood intersection (late June/early July – mid-August)

Road closed between Wenig Road and I-380 (local traffic only between

Northwood and I-380)

Wenig intersection closed

Construction completed from Wenig to Northwood and open to traffic by

mid-August

Mid-August to late October

Traffic control still under development. Possible set-ups include local traffic only

OR one-way traffic westbound only from I-380 to Northwood
