“Travelin’ Light, is the only way to fly…”- Widespread Panic
“Travelin’ Light” could very well have been the theme song of Jesus and the 72 disciples, whom he sends out two-by-two this weekend. What a good message for all of us, as we go on vaca on or even a stay-ca on. Travel light. I certainly would be an “over packer”, not to be confused in ANY way with a “Packer back-er”. S ll, I need to listen to Jesus’ command to travel light, to put my trust and reliance in Him, both literally and spiritually, as I prepare to travel this month.
Lord, your hand is full of justice!
I knew a priest, Msgr. Bill Lyons, rest in peace, who definitely traveled light. He reportedly traveled to EUROPE with basically a backpack, including one change of clothes and a toothbrush for sure, not sure what else. I hope he packed his Right Guard (yep, they s ll make that). But he certainly traveled light wherever he went. What a great example for us. We can all travel lighter. How can we travel light? Prac cally, taking one bag, simplifying. There are certain things I just don’t need to pack on a trip. I can leave it behind. But it’s more than that. How about in our lives? We all have baggage that we carry. When we allow oth-ers and Jesus to help us carry it, through reliance and trust, we begin to travel lighter. Unburden yourself. One way to do that is through the Sacrament of Rec-oncilia on. It’s a great way to begin. Think of our final journey from this life. We certainly want to travel light then. You can’t take it with you, a er all. “Travelin’ Light, is the only way to fly.”
Effec ve July 1, 2019, due to a decree from the Bishops of the Province of Mis-souri, Mass offerings will be increasing to $10 per Mass to be more in line with the rest of the dioceses across the country.
Upcoming Events :
Don’t forget to take Jesus with you in your travels this summer. Remember, you can find Sunday Mass pre y much anywhere! Go to www.mass mes.org and enter the City, State, or Zip!

Do you find it difficult to find time to relax, quiet your mind and talk to God? A retreat at White House is
the perfect opportunity to find the peace, quiet and inspiration your soul is looking for. It’s like a 3 - day vaca-
tion with God. Join the women of our parish and surrounding parishes on our annual retreat! Retreats at
White House are silent, guided retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, S.J. All of your
meals are provided and everyone receives their own private accommodations. There is no set fee to attend;
White House operates on a free - will offering basis. To register, call White House at 314.416.6400, or visit
www.whretreat.org to find additional dates. Contact Kathy Palumbo for more information at
[email protected] and 314.486.4251.
All men of the parish are invited to join their fellow parishioners by signing up for the annual retreat at
White House Retreat. The White House is a beautiful facility overlooking the Mississippi River in South St.
Louis County. A retreat once a year is a vital necessity these days. How long since you’ve enjoyed the ben-
efits of a spiritual check up? The White House offers 80 acres of beautiful surroundings, great food, a spe-
cial camaraderie and fellowship with your fellow parishioners and affords you a great opportunity to spend
some quiet time with the Lord.
For more information, assistance or registration, please contact Tom Jones at 636.537.8508 or email
[email protected]. Information pamphlets are available in the church vestibule and the side en-
trances to the church.
Sandwich Ministry Since this ministry began in June 2014, our
parish volunteers and school children have
provided more than 1,000 sandwiches a month to
food pantries in our area. They include: St.
Anthony’s Food Pantry, Fr. Bryon’s Caritas
Connection, Fr. Bob’s Outreach and Circle of
Concern. Participation is easy. Parishioners make
one or more loaves of sandwiches once a month
and put them in the refrigerator in the church
basement. The loaves are then packed and
distributed to various charities. We are always in
need of new volunteers and helpers.
For more information, call Marie at 636.256.0234 or
Louise at 314.576.5217.
Book Club The Book Club will be meeting on Monday, July
22 at 7:00 PM in the Rectory Basement to discuss
“Saints Who Battled Satan” by Paul Thigpen Ph.D.
— Padre Pio, Francis of Assisi, Catherine of Siena,
Teresa of Avila, John Vianney and a dozen other
saints who battled Satan.
Marriage Encounter Are you thinking about your summer vacation? A
Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend, away
from all the distractions and pressures in your life
right now, would be the BEST vacation of your life.
You and your spouse will always remember this
WWME Weekend away as a great time together
that strengthened your marriage. The next
weekends are August 9 - 11 or September 27 - 29,
2019 at the Courtyard Marriott in St. Peter’s, MO. If
you would like to apply or get more information, go

Blessing of Expectant Families There will be a blessing of expectant families,
including those awaiting the adoption of a child,
after all Masses this weekend of July 6/7. A table
in the gathering space will have St. Gerard Majella
holy cards and medals for you to take home. St.
Gerard is the patron saint of expectant mothers.
For more information, contact Susan Nowak at
636.394.0272.
We have expanded our ministry for expectant
families to include a new way of knowing who are
the expectant families in our parish. You will notice
a stand with two shelves of roses over by the
Mother of Perpetual Help icon. The bottom set of
roses are for families to take one and write their
names on the card, then place the rose in the top
vase. All of the Christ, Prince of Peace
parishioners can then pray for these expectant
families throughout their pregnancy and delivery.
Please feel free to take your rose home after your
child has arrived.
Prayer for All First Responders
Blessed are you, Lord, God of mercy, who
through your Son gave us a marvelous example of
charity and the great commandment of love for
one another. Send down your blessings on these
your servants, who so generously devote
themselves to helping others. Grant them courage
when they are afraid, wisdom when they must
make quick decisions, strength when they are
weary, and compassion in all their work. When the
alarm sounds and they are called to aid both friend
and stranger, let them faithfully serve you in their
neighbor. We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

CPOP Guide Book & Directory
Update Membership Information Does our Church database have YOUR family
membership record correct? Here is your chance to
update YOUR record for our annual Guide Book &
Directory (if you haven’t already done so).
It is time for us to update our database with any
changes, additions or deletions that may have
occurred in YOUR family over the past year.
Have you changed your phone number? Have
you deleted your landline? Do we have an email
address for you and your family? Have you moved?
Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your
children still at home and are they all included in
your membership record? Do you want your record
published?
If you have not already informed the Church
Office about changes to your record, please let us
know now so that the information in the Guide Book
& Directory is correct.
The Parish Office number is 636.391.1307 or email:
Advertising Opportunity
We are in the process of updating our annual
Guide Book & Directory for the Church. This book
will contain everything pertinent to our church: the
various ministries, organizations, committees,
activities, functions and events, plus a complete
directory of all members of the parish. This book is
being provided and direct-mailed to each family at
no cost to our church, and it is again being
subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you
own or manage a business and would like to find out
more about advertising in our book, please call the
Parish Office at 636.391.1307.
Recent survey results show that 92.1% of
families would rather patronize a Guide Book &
Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will
pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book &
Directory.
Volunteer Opportunity
A group of Christ, Prince of Peace women
volunteer at a soup kitchen on Wednesdays from
9:00 AM to noon. If you would be interested in
joining us, please call Marge Smelser at
314.609.4048 for more information.
Happy Birthday,
Fr. Doyle!!
Many blessings in the next year!

Stewardship Reflection
“He said to them, ‘”The harvest is abundant, but the
laborers are few…’” (Luke 10:2)
As Catholics we are all called to serve. However, many
of us are unsure of what our charisms or gifts from the Holy
Spirit are to help build God’s Church. Through prayer we
are able to discern how God is calling us. The next time
your pastor or fellow parishioner asks you to join a commit-
tee, ask God first, if that is what He wants you to do with
your gifts.
