SUMMARY: This should be an interesting battle between Bates and Clipper. Bates'9.4 time has been somewhat questioned, but he has proven that he has plenty of speedeven on slow tracks. Buchanen, Gaskill and Watson could surprise the top two. Allhave shown plenty of speed throughout the spring. All and all, however Bates andCli pper are still the two to beat.

SUMMAR Y: The team championship of this year 1 s State Meet could well hinge onthe outcome of the relay. Long Beach Poly seems to have the edge, but Bakersfield,Glendale Hoover, Manual Arts, Fremont, Delano, Muir or Roosevelt--any of these-could well walk off with the medal for this race and the meet. Muir has a strongfinisher in Clipper and if the baton pas:..;es are good might be the team to take it all.
