"Applicants MUST attend one of the two mandatory Applicant Meetings to be held at Tuttle City Hall (221 W Main St downtown) on Thursday, August 3, 2017," Douglas said. "The meetings will be at 11:30 AM and 6:30 PM. At the meetings we will take everyone's applications, provide information, and answer questions about the program." Director Douglas also noted that applicants to the un-awarded 2014 safe-room rebate program would receive priority in the new program. "Those who are still eligible and wish to participate in the 2017 program will be prioritized if they attend one of the Applicant Meetings and submit a new Application." "We recognize this is short-notice," Douglas said. "Originally we were planning to do a new rebate program in early 2018. However, late last week we learned

about a pool of federal hazard-mitigation funds that must be committed by the second week of August, and also that there were no project applications pending against these funds. This makes our chances at receiving an award very, very good, and it is likely that our application will be processed much more rapidly than normal." Given the short-notice, Director Douglas is calling on everybody in the community to spread the word. "This is a great program that provides peace-of-mind when it's needed the most," Douglas added. "I'm urging everybody to help get the word out so we can get as many families into safe rooms as possible. I want to pack those Applicant Meetings as full as we can." Applications and FAQ's for the 2017 Individual Safe-Room Rebate Program can be downloaded at emtuttle.com and cityoftuttle.com, and they will also be sent out with this month’s City utility bills.
