Reflections on the Southern Baptist Convention I had the privilege to attend the Southern Baptist Convention in Orlando last week. A large crowd of over 11,000 messengers met to worship and conduct business. Bryant Wright, pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga., was elected as SBC president. The most important item of business was the decision concerning whether

or not to pass the recommendations of the GCR (Great Commission Resurgence) Task Force. The GCR report passed by a 3 to 1 margin. As a result of this vote, 1% more of our cooperative program dollars will go to support foreign missions. This will allow more missionaries to be commissioned for service. Another result of the vote is that more of our home missions budget will be used in regions of our country (i.e. the Northeast and West) where there are fewer Christians and fewer Southern Baptist Churches. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to attend this historic convention. Your Pastor, Bro Mike

Church Workers Needed There are several areas in our church that we need the help of our members. Please pray about these areas that God would send forth the workers needed. First, we need a new RA director for our boys in grades 1 through 6. They meet on Wednesday nights from August to May. Second we need a

couple of people to help keep the weeds out of the playground area and to help with playground maintenance. In order to have VBS we must have more workers! Such an opportunity to reach Lawrenceburg for Christ! As of today we still need a director for Babies To Two Years, Three Years Old, Fourth Grade! On top of these directors we need workers in each of the classrooms! Praying That These Workers Come Forth! Diana Sand Springer's, Those of you going to Pigeon Forge you need to be at the church, boarded and ready to leave by 8:00 am Monday morning the 28th. (Yes Henry, there are two 8:00 in one day!) We have one potty break planned around 10:00 am and then a lunch stop around 12:00. This doesn’t mean that’s the only stops we will make. We’ll stop again if we need too. We have one evening that we could be back to the hotel rather early so if you like to play cards, dominos or something like that you might want to bring them. The full itinerary is available to you in the atrium on the welcome desk. You can have one for yourself and one for your family. It has all the contact information on it that they might need while we are gone. Our next two scheduled events are July 26th and 27th. The Legends ballgame and the Pioneer Play House I will have more details later. Blessings, Ellery

Dear Church, Summer is in full swing and our Student ministry is filling the presence of God. This past week our students traveled to Centrifuge Church Camp in Ridgecrest, North Carolina. Our students experienced God in an amazing way in addition to having a

great time of games, track times, and climbing mountains both spiritually and literally. I want to say a special thank you to Julie Peach, who was our female chaperone and did an amazing job of loving and caring for students during a week of camp. As we conclude Centrifuge we are now looking ahead to Kentucky Changers. Our students will be attending Kentucky Changers on July 3rd through 10th in Crittenden, KY (Pendleton County High School). We still have spots available for any student who would like to attend. In preparation for Kentucky Changers, we will be painting several rooms on the youth floor on June 28th and 29th. All students are invited to come and make your mark on the youth rooms. All students attending Kentucky Changers are required to attend on June 29th as this will serve as our pre project for Changers. In His Steps, Jeff Sparks Matthew 7:24

Mission tree in Atrium The Mission committee has been asked by several members how they can help support our mission trips. Each group has several needs so we have made a Mission tree with items we need on them. If God lays on your heart to help please take a butterfly or card, pick up the item, tape the card to the item and place it in the containers in the atrium by July 4th.We appreciate any help. Also need to ask for people to bring any sports equipment their kids may have out grown or no longer use, such as bats, balls, gloves, anything for volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer or kickball. Thanks, Carmen
