Scripture Readings:

Romans 8:31-10:4;

Matthew 13:24-30

According to tradition, while an route to Jerusalem on a

pilgrimage, two Greek princes come across a chest that

once belonged to St. Mary. In Galilee, they see a large

crowd gathered in front of a Jewish woman’s house. They

inquire and find that the sick are being healed due to the

inexplicable power of the chest. The princes bring the

box to Constantinople and present it to the Patriarch,

who places it in the Church of St. Mary. The Patriarch

then establishes the Feast of the Discovery of St. Mary’s

Box.

The Armenian Church celebrates this feast upon the

order of the Catholicos Simeon Yerevantsee, who

accepted this tradition from the Greek Orthodox Church

in the late 18th century.

The Holy Gospel according to Matthew 13:24-30

Jesus told them another parable:“The kingdom of heaven is like a man

who sowed good seed in his field.But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy

came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.When the wheat

sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.“The owner’s

servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field?

Where then did the weeds come from?’“ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.“The

servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’“ ‘No,’ he

answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat

with them.Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the

harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then

gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”

ուրկէ՞ է”: Ան ալ ըսաւ անոնց. “Թշնամի մը ըրած է ասիկա”:

Ծառաները ըսին իրեն. “Ուստի կ՚ուզե՞ս որ երթանք ու քաղենք

զանոնք”: Իսկ ան ըսաւ. “Ո՛չ, որպէսզի երբ որոմը քաղէք՝ ցորենն ալ

չփրցնէք անոր հետ: Թո՛յլ տուէք որ երկուքն ալ միասին աճին՝ մինչեւ

հունձքի ատենը”: Եւ հունձքի ատենը պիտի ըսեմ հնձողներուն. “Նախ որո՛մը քաղեցէք ու խուրձ-

խուրձ կապեցէ՛ք՝ այրելու համար, իսկ ցորենը ժողվեցէ՛ք իմ ամբարս”»:

Visits to the Hospitalized and Homebound Please contact the Pastor when you or someone you love is admitted to the hospital and would like a visit from the Pastor. If you have an upcoming surgery, please consider requesting your name be included in the “Prayers for the Sick and Hospitalized.” Those who are homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion at home should contact the Pastor.

Home Blessing If you would like the Pastor to visit your home and offer a home blessing, please contact the Pastor.

Baptism - Parents may prepare for the baptism of their child before he or she is born. For more information, contact the Pastor.
