4-Way Distribution Amplifier

Thank you for buying the Nexxtech 4-Way Distribution Amplifier. It allows you to amplify and distribute the video and stereo audio output signals from a DVD or other video source to four VCRs or monitors.

The amplifier’s features include:

Four Audio/Video Outputs — lets you connect one source to four TVs or stereo VCRs.

One Audio/Video Input — lets you connect to a stereo audio/video source.

Built-in Composite/S-Video Composite Circuit — lets you convert composite video to S-Video, or S-Video to composite video.

Standard Colour-Coded Phono Connectors — lets you connect to an audio/video source easier.

S-Video Jacks — transmits the best picture to your video.

Note: This amplifier is designed to amplify existing signals and to deliver a strong signal through multiple in-home connections. It will not improve a poor signal.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or shock hazard, do not expose this product to rain or moisture.

CAUTION!RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT OPEN.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE COVER OR BACK. NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.

This symbol is intended to alert you to the presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the product’s enclosure that might be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock. Do not open the product’s case.

!This symbol is intended to inform you that important operating and maintenance instructions are included in the literature accompanying this product.

CONNECTING COMPONENTS

Use stereo audio/video cables with phono plugs (available at your local electronic store) to make all connections. For the best performance, use high quality audio/video cables. Do not use audio cables for video. The amplifier’s colour-coded jacks make it easy to connect components to the amplifier. Yellow jacks are for video, red jacks are for right audio, and white jacks are for left audio.

Note: Always use the shortest possible cable for the connections. Do not coil extra cable next to the amplifier.

1. Connect the source component’s audio output to INPUT-A L/Rjacks on the back of the amplifier.

Note: If your source component is monaural, use an audio Y-adapter (available at your local electronic store) to join the right and left audio inputs together; then connect the other end of the Y-adapter to your monaural component’s audio output jack.

2. If the source component does not have an S-Video output, connect its video output to the amplifier’s yellow INPUT-V jack for that component.

If the source component has an S-Video output, connect its video output to INPUT S for that component.

Caution: Do not connect a component’s video output to both INPUT-V and INPUT S.

3. If your TV or monitor does not have an S-Video input, connect its video input to OUTPUT (1–4)-V yellow jack.

If it has an S-Video input, connect it to OUTPUT (1–4) S.

Caution: Do not connect the TV or monitor’s video input to both OUTPUT (1–4)-V and OUTPUT (1–4) S.

4. Connect the TV or monitor audio inputs to OUTPUT-A (1–4) R/L.

5. Connect the supplied AC adapter’s barrel plug to DC 9V 300mA,then connect the adapter’s AC plug to a standard AC outlet.

Cautions:

!You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 9V DC and delivers at least 300mA. Its centre tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit the amplifier’s

DC 9V 300mA jack. The supplied adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the amplifier or the adapter.

• Always connect the AC adapter to the amplifier before you connect it to AC power. When you finish, disconnect the adapter from AC power before you disconnect it from the amplifier.

Note: This amplifier does not have the power switch. It uses very little electricity and can be left on all the time, except when you are away for extended periods of time.

OPERATION1. Turn on the component connected to the input jacks on the

amplifier.

2. Turn on the desired components connected to the output jacks on the amplifier, and operate them as usual.

Note: If an output is connected to a monitor, be sure the monitor is set to receive separate audio and video signals.

TROUBLESHOOTINGWe do not expect you to have any problems with your amplifier, but if you do, these suggestions might help.

Problem Suggestion

You have poor or no reception on all components that connect to the amplifier’s output jacks.

Be sure the AC adapter is properly and securely connected.

You have poor or no reception on one component that connects to the amplifier’s output jacks.

Be sure that component’s connection is proper. Exchange the cables to locate either a defective cable or connector.

The component’s picture quality is poor.

Be sure you use the audio/video cables to make the connections.

CAREKeep the amplifier dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the amplifier only in normal temperature environments. Handle the amplifier carefully; do not drop it. Keep the amplifier away from dust and dirt, and wipe it with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.

SERVICE AND REPAIRIf your amplifier is not performing as it should, take it to your local electronic store for assistance. Modifying or tampering with the amplifier’s internal device can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty.
