4 types of measurement scales:
Nominal: discrete scale. Variable which describes a category/quality. E.g. gender, True/False, race, status.
Ordinal: discrete scale. Order categories that can be placed in rank order. E.g. age, position, exam grades.
Interval: Cardinal scale. Both discrete and continuous. Ratio: Cardinal scale. Both discrete and continuous.
They measure a specific amount (exact amount). However in a ratio scale, the minimum is zero and represents a true zero.
True zero: E.g. a person has no money.
