Mitico is a postural seating system, suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.It is characterized by a special sitting unit trunk/pelvis, customizable in every detail and with different adjustable frames that fit to the different needs of the child and his family. The sitting unit is modular and offers multiple adjustment options that allow the rehabilitator to conform, even during the growth of the child, the different surfaces to the specific physical and functional needs of the child.Mitico is available in two versions, one with the front of the seat support in a unique platform and one with separated coxo-femoral supports, independently adjustable to allow a more appropriate position to cope with problems of limb-length discrepancy or a deformity structured pelvis.The different accessories and the frames for external and internal use are perfectly integrated with the chair and create a real “life partner”: Mitico receives the child in a safe and comfortable way and allows him at any time of the day a position that can promote the best participation in the life that takes place around him, at home, school ... or walking with mom!

The attention that Fumagalli dedicates to its products is con-stant and is the result of shared experiences in multidisciplinary fields. Projects are tested di-rectly by physical therapists and families and feedbacks to each experience are the basis of subsequent revisions and struc-tural and aesthetic updates.The interest that Fumagalli re-serves to aesthetic aspect of its products is known: Mitico in 1998 received the report to award “Compass D’Oro” and since 2001 it is included in the “Permanent Exhibition of De-sign” at the Milan Triennale.

Mitico is designed to ensure a full customization: the pos-sibility to perform the different adjustments directly with the baby sitting, using the knobs on the system or a sin-gle Allen key (supplied), and the slots on the chassis for the attachment of all accessories create a truly integrated “modular” system, which can be shaped according to each child’s individual needs.

Mitico can be used in different everyday environments, external or internal, thanks to the interchangeable frames. Each frame allows tilting; the frames Dentro and High Low also allow to raise or lower the height of Mitico where the child prefers, to enable him to “look closely” and live situa-tions that take place around him.

The backrest reclining, with physiological fulcrum close to the hips and the practical tilting system allow the child to get a comfortable posture that also facilitates the control of the head and trunk, the movements of the upper limbs and the eye-hand coordination, inspiring them to actively participate in the activities that take place next to him.

Because it is a system specifically designed in every detail to comply with the needs of the child, to follow his growth and allow him to develop his ability to fully enjoy every mo-ment of life and situation.The system is modular, consisting of a backrest and a seat adjustable in width, length, height and is also available in a ver-sion with front supports of the seat separated and individually adjustable, for adjustment of the abduction/adduction of the legs. All adjustments are designed to be performed directly with the child sitting using knobs already integrated on the structure or a sin-gle Allen key.

Also the choice of production materials was studied: the seat unit is made by a special type of aluminum, a material highly versatile, lightweight but extremely strong; for the soft padding was chosen a siliconized hollow fiber contained in a printed thermo elastic fabric with a layer of foam, or in a soft microfiber cover. The union of these special materials transmits the child a comfortable “contact” and allows him to sit for long periods without the risk of injury because the materials are transpiring and allow a proper dispersion of the contact pressures. By “seating system” we mean everything that is required to support and hold a person in a sitting position. Basically we are talking about a set of elements that control the position of the trunk, pelvis, head, upper and lower limbs. In order to find optimal solutions for the choice and use of an aid for the sitting posture, the consideration of some fundamental aspects plays an important rule:Pelvis stability: the most important aspect to be considered in each postural system is its capacity to provide for the pelvis stabilityThorax and head alignment: the postural seating system must provide for an adequate trunk and head support, if required, as this helps to stabilize the pelvis and ease the function of the upper limbs, as well as social interaction and concentration.Legs and feet: The postural system must be provided with appropriate support for the legs and feet. These elements play a vital role in maintaining the stability of the pelvis and then the alignment of trunk and head.

Between the padding and the seat frame an “interface” with a viscoelastic gel pad (a low memory material) is fixed, which allows to absorb the kinetic energy of any involuntary movements and enables further support in the different positions assumed by the child: under the interface is possible to insert wedges of dif-ferent shapes, made of a material that can be adapted easily by a cut.

The frame is prepared for the addition of all the accessories of Mitico Line, including several models of belts and different postural supports useful for everyday activities. For example, the armrests, made by soft rubber and adjustable in height and angle, follow the backrest and allow the insertion of different models of tables directly into the internal structure of the arm, so that the child cannot be injured.

1 The chassis integrates all coupling systems for the postural units for the head, the upper and lower limbs, the belts, the braces and other accessories for the posture control and customization.

2 Each accessory offers various postural adjustment and handling, to fit precisely to every single need of the child.

3 On the backrest the interface between frame and padding is made of closed cell polyurethane, with a special surface on which you can attack the wedges for customization.

4 The interface of the seat is made of viscoelastic and compact thermo-formable material, which offers comfort and stability and absorbs the kinetic energy of involuntary movements.

The line of Mitico accessories was designed according to the seating system to complete the possibilities of adaptation and stimulation of the ability of the child; over the years it has followed the evolution of the needs expressed by users of the system and still continues to adapt to the demands, to keep the product current and ... nice!

Today Mitico is available with padding in two versions: one made of elastic thermo printed covering of the front (leaving the back visible), and one complete, in different colors, soft and cozy, which also covers the backrest to avoid contact with the metal.

Each pad is coordinated with the structure of the seat.

The line of accessories Mitico consists of several models that complement the product with supports and restraints for different segments corporal, from postural units for the head, those for the lower limbs, the different frames for indoor and outdoor use, which allow to use the postural system in each situation. Each accessory is designed to coordinate with the sitting unit, which has the slots on the structure to mount and to adjust it to fit the child.

A curiosity!

This particular padded microfiber is originally designed on special request of our Russian partner that given the cold climate of its re-gions, wanted to avoid that mothers and children could come into contact with the me-tal of the backrest. For this reason we have created a new version revolutionizing the design “high tech” of the Mitico padding to create an even more warm and pleasant co-ver: a good choice, given the success that has gained even in Western markets!

Outdoor frame “BUGGY” Two sizesThe frame is easily foldable and designed for outdoor use, comfortable and easy to handle, with running wheels made of solid rubber and a centralized brake operated by pedal. The adjustment of the tilt is smooth and precise. On request can be completed by a spacious storage basket with a capacity of 5 kg.

Outdoor frame “FUORI” One sizeThe frame is designed for use both indoors and outdoors, even on rough uneven terrain due to the large pneumatic wheels and shock absorbers that absorb the stresses. The special shape of a “X” of the legs allows an easy approach to the child in every situation. Easily foldable, sizes are reduced to move around with agility in all environments and walk through each kind of port. The grip of the push bar is adjustable in inclination and is equipped with a parking brake. The adjustment of the tilting occurs smoothly and extremely precise thanks to the worm screw of the crank. A request can be completed by a spacious storage basket with a capacity of 5 kg.

Indoor frame “DENTRO” One sizeThe frame is ideal for indoor use thanks to its small size; it is adjustable in height in a very simple way and without any difficulty thanks to the dynamic-oil pump which is driven by a pedal. Its special shape “X” facilitates the approach to the child from all sides and allows the child to keep a contact with the mother. The tilt is operated by a gas spring. The base has swivel wheels with total brake .

Indoor frame “HIGH LOW” One sizeThis frame has modern design, it’s ease to use and handle, even with the baby sitting: this make it ideal for indoor use, at home and at school. The base makes it possible to move from floor level up to the table, also very high.
