A high level team of district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Shetal Nanda accompanied the minister. The minister took detailed review of the situation and preparedness of the adminis- tration to deal with the emer- gency situation including arrangements for rescue, relief and providing prompt healthcare in case of injury. Minister visited border vil- lages of Mahal Shahan, Ramloo and Ramgarh of Vijaypur Constituency to take stock of the situation in the backdrop of repeated ceasefire violation and shelling from across the bor- der. He also interacted with displaced border residents putting up at Relief Camp established in Radha Swami Sat Sang ghar Thandi Khui. While interacting with affected families, the minister assured them all necessary help from the government and directed civil administra- tion and police to be vigilant in the vulnerable areas and immediately respond at times of border shelling. He also directed concerned officers to remain present in their respective jurisdictions to deal with any emergency situation. He directed the local administration to remain prepared for prompt action in case of any exigency. Ganga asked people to remain vigilant and also advised the villagers to stay indoors and at shift to safer places during cross border shelling. SSP Anil Magotra, SDM Vijaypur, Ravinder Sharma, Tehsildar and other district officers were also part of the official team. Speaking before huge rally on the zero line on International Border, former Minister Manjit Singh said that the Govt has failed to deal with present situation on the border which has compelled residents to abandon their houses. "Sitting in AC rooms, you cannot judge what the situa- tion border residents have been facing. The Govt must come on the ground and live with the Pak firing victims, " said Manjit Singh. The people have lost their houses while the Govt has failed to chalk out strategy to deal with situation, he added. He further said that Modi Govt not only failed in India but with regard to foreign pol- icy as well. "Weak foreign poli- cies of Union Govt lead to heated borders where innocent people facing failure of the Govt. There was a need to end border tension with dialogue or one to one fight with the enemy if she (Pakistan) fails to understand," he mentioned. Manjit Singh said border people have been left to suffer due to poor Govt in Centre and they should resign in the inter- est of India because they have failed to save lives of the people and defend the country. He said that the government should give five Marla piece of land at the safer places to the border residents so that they can live their during the days of hostility. He appealed the government to five befitting reply to Pakistan and silence their guns. He said that there should be a comprehensive plan for the border residents in view of present crises. According to a report, on a specific information a team led by SHO Doda Bishnesh Kumar and SI Ashiq Hussain laid a Naka at Akram Abad area and appre- hended a person, who was roaming in suspicious circum- stances. On his search, police team recovered 500 grams of Charas from his possession. The accused was identified as Rashid Hussain son of Abdul Majeed Shah resident of Sadeeqabad Doda and a case vide FIR No 201/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Doda. Pertinent to mention here that district administration has kept ready the relief camps at identified loca- tions where families shall be provided safe accommoda- tion and basic amenities amid recent shelling inci- dents in R S Pura, Samba and Hiranagar sectors of international border. Camp commanders and camp offi- cers have been appointed for overseeing arrangements and provision of relief. Committees of camp inhabi- tants have also been consti- tuted for coordination. He said an Emergency Response Center has been established by district administration where rep- resentatives of various departments have been deputed for immediate response. Earlier SDM Hiranagar apprised DDC that a group of over 150 people stayed for one day in the camp due to shelling incidents at border and returned back to their home as the shelling stopped in the evening. Army facilitates cataract surgeries for needy STATE TIMES NEWS SURANKOTE: With an aim to improve health care status of the remote areas of Poonch District, army had organised a cataract screening camp at Surankote and Daraba from Jul 4 to July 6, 2017. In all 70 patients from Bafliaz and surrounding villages, who were suffering from cataract have been identified for treat- ment. Army is now in the process of facilitating the cataract sur- geries of these patients. In this ongoing process, ten cataract surgeries were conducted from Sep 17 to 20, 2017 at Government Medical College, Jammu. The surgeries were performed by Dr Dinesh Gupta, HoD Opthalmology Dept, a renowned ophthalmol- gist in Jammu. In the coming days, operation of the balance patients will be conducted in a phased manner.

Army facilitates cataractsurgeries for needy

STATE TIMES NEWS SURANKOTE: With an aimto improve health care statusof the remote areas of PoonchDistrict, army had organised acataract screening camp atSurankote and Daraba fromJul 4 to July 6, 2017. In all70 patients from Bafliaz andsurrounding villages, whowere suffering from cataracthave been identified for treat-ment.

Army is now in the processof facilitating the cataract sur-geries of these patients. In thisongoing process, ten cataractsurgeries were conducted fromSep 17 to 20, 2017 atGovernment Medical College,Jammu. The surgeries wereperformed by Dr DineshGupta, HoD OpthalmologyDept, a renowned ophthalmol-gist in Jammu. In the comingdays, operation of the balancepatients will be conducted in aphased manner.
