Did You Know?

VOLUME 18, ISSUE 5

Interesting Facts About 4-H

Did you know 4-H was formed because adults in the farming community (late 1800s) were reluctant to accept new agricultural developments? Researchers found that young people were open to new

thinking, would experiment with new ideas, and share their experiences with adults. Did you know the first 4-H club was formed in 1902 when A.B. Graham started a youth program in Clark

County, Ohio? The first club was called “The Tomato Club” or the “Corn Growing Club.” Did you know the Cooperative Extension System was created in 1914?

Did you know the words “Our World” weren’t added to the 4-H Pledge until the 1970s? Find out more about the history of 4-H by visiting www.4-H.org!

———————————————————————————————————————————————— Did you know we have an Expansion and Review Committee that looks for ways to expand 4-H

Programming in Jackson County? Did you know each 4-H club elects youth officers to run the meetings?

Did you know Jackson County 4-H offers over 70 projects youth can take? Did you know there are over 700 youth in Jackson County 4-H?
