They also rank first in the league in average (.287), hits (63), walks (53), on-base percentage (.372) and OPS (.773)...Jackson will try to rebound after allowing season highs in runs (13) and hits (18) last night...First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Versus Tennessee: The Generals have an early 2-1 lead in this 15-game season series...This is the only series at The Ballpark in Jackson between the two clubs this year...The Generals play in Kodak, Tenn. in May and August...The Smokies won nine of the 14 games between these clubs last year...Tony Zych, who pitches for Jackson now, was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four appearances for Tennessee in last year’s season series. He gave up three runs on four hits in an inning last night. It’s A Me, Dario: Dario Pizzano led the way offensively for Jackson in the team’s 13-4 loss Wednesday night, going 3-for-4 with his first homer of the year and three RBIs. That was just the second three-hit game for a General this year after D.J. Peterson went 3-for-6 on April 17 against the Braves. On the season, the left-handed hitter is batting .370 (10-for-27) with an OPS of .952. He carries a five-game hitting streak into tonight’s contest. Over that stretch, Pizzano is hitting .400 (8-for-20) with an on-base percentage of .429. Walk On The Wild Side: Generals pitchers were uncharacteristically wild in Wednesday night’s game, walking a season-high eight batters. The staff had issued only 23 walks in the team’s first 11 games of the season, best in the Southern League. Twice, the pitching staff has gone an entire game without allowing a walk (April 15 versus the Mississippi Braves (L, 6-4), April 21 versus the Tennessee Smokies (W, 5-3). Even after last night, the Generals are second in the league in walks allowed (31). Season Highs, Or Lows: In addition to the eight walks, Jackson set a number of dubious season highs in Wednesday night’s loss. Tennessee’s 13 runs and 18 hits both marked new highs for Jackson opponents in 2015. The team’s nine-run margin of defeat was its largest of the season. The Generals’ defense also commit- ted four errors in the loss. Prior, no opponent had scored more than seven runs and the team had only committed six errors in its first 11 games. Don’t Call it a Comeback: The first two games of this series have been won on late Generals rallies. Tennessee led Monday’s opener 1-0 before Jackson answered with seven runs over its final two at bats. On Tuesday, the Generals erased a 3-1 deficit with a two-run seventh inning before taking the lead in the eighth with Dan Paolini’s decisive two-run double. Up to Speed: With Leon Landry and Jack Reinheimer atop the Jackson lineup, Jackson has been one of the most aggressive Southern League teams on the bases in 2015. The Generals have five steals in the first three games of this series against the Smokies. As a team, Jackson is second in Southern League with 11 stolen bases. Individually, infielder Jack Reinheimer shares fourth place in the circuit with three steals. Offensive Firepower: The 2015 Generals figure to feature a powerful offense, as all five of the top- 30 Seattle prospects according to Baseball America on the squad are hitters: D.J. Peterson (2), Gabriel Guerrero (7), Jordy Lara (15), Jack Reinheimer (17) and Julio Morban (25). Eight players hit 10 or more home runs last year, including four that surpassed 15: Gabriel Guerrero (18), Jordy Lara (26), Jabari Henry (30) and D.J. Peterson (31). Guerrero and Lara were two of just seven minor league players to hit .300 with 90 runs scored, 45 extra-base hits and 90 runs batted in, while Peterson was one of five to hit 30 home runs while driving in more than 100.
