ITINERARY 4 - 12 December 2011

Day 1, Sunday Depart from O R Tambo International Airport to Amman, the capital city of Jordan. Biblical Rabbath-Ammon & the capital of the Ammonites.Day 2, Monday We visit Machaerus, the site where John the Baptist was beheaded after Salome’s fateful dance (Matt 14:3-11) From this hilltop fortified palace of Herod, we view the Dead Sea region, the hills of Palestine and Israel.

We stop to take some pics of Wadi Mujib, the biblical Arnon River.

Visit Kerak, in the Bible it is called Qer Harreseth, and is identified as having been subject to the Assyrian empire; in the Books of Kings (16:9) and Book of Amos (1:5, 9:7), it is mentioned as the place whither the Syrians went before they settled in the regions north of Palestine, and to which Tiglath-Pileser III sent the prisoners after the conquest of Damascus. We also visit the Kerak Castle, one of the largest crusader castles in the Levant.Dinner & overnight - Petra

We visit Aroer, this Biblical town was an ancient Moabite settlement.
