Report Builder – KPI creation

1. Create a folder for your customised KPI’s2. Create a new KPI using the formula wizard (picture below)

Note: menu item is only available, when KPI tree selected

Workflow: create your own sub folder! give KPI a name select the counters for your KPI assemble the counters to a formula (KPI) choose the right time aggregation function (sum, avg,…) prevent division by zero (selector in KPI window or use of decode function) choose the right object aggregation function (by default same as time agg)

Select Formula view

Select “Open the Formula Wizard to create a formula”



Create a new folder for the KPI

1) Select Create folder.

2) Rename the folder “Training KPI’s”



Give the formula a name (Training KPI 1) and select the unit.



Create the formula.

Find the counters and create the formula

If you do a division, remember to ensure you do not divide by zero

Validate the formula

Workflow: create your own sub folder! give report a name PI-selection: select your counters (PI’s) and / or KPI’s Dimension selection: select your dimensions regarding scope and level

(time=weekly, object=MSC) Visualisation settings: define the visualisation settings (graf and matrix) define scheduling and some other optional settings



Creating a report in Report Builder.

1) Select Report view.

2) Select the folder called “Training Demo”

Select “Call the Report wizard to create a report




1) Give the report a name.




Add the wanted KPI’s to the report




Advanced time and object selection.

Click Next




Advanced chart and matrix output formatting.

Click Next




Possibility to schedule the report

Click Finish.




Report created, but no data for the two KPI’s is shown, due to no data available in the database.

1) Report-Browsing: open the Root folder and select your report to run2) KPI-Browsing: select the link

Default reports for :

3G SGSN, CG, GGSN, IMS, PS, PaCo, PoC, IN, SMSC, Traffica GPRS are not showing any results, because there is no data in the database.

Default reports for RAN contains data for Nokia 3G RAN elements.

TPDefinitions contains the reports that are used in Threshold & Profile application.
