Huawei PCN SRAN-20120010 (OMB Ver.A Cabinet EOM Notice)

0 Abstract

Manufacture of OMB Ver.A cabinets and components intended for the Distributed Base Station 3900 (DBS3900)

will be discontinued. OMB Ver.C cabinets and components will substitute for OMB Ver.A cabinets and

components respectively for sales. This change notice is for customers who use OMB Ver.A cabinets and

components intended for the DBS3900. OMB stands for outdoor mini box.

The last-buy date is December 31, 2013. The last supply date is June 30, 2014.

The heat exchange unit type As (HEUAs) of OMB Ver.A cabinets can be substituted by the heat exchange unit

type Bs (HEUBs) of OMB Ver.C cabinets. Therefore, the manufacture of HEUAs will be discontinued starting

from December 31, 2013 together with OMB Ver.A cabinets. The last supply date is June 30, 2014. For the

last-buy dates for other components that do not have substitutes, see the DBS3900 life cycle milestone bulletin.

The HEUBs of OMB Ver.C cabinets can totally substitute the HEUAs of OMB Ver.A cabinets. Therefore, the

manufacture of HEUAs will be discontinued starting from December 31, 2013 together with OMB Ver.A cabinets.

Except the HEUAs, other components of OMB Ver.A cabinets cannot be substituted by the components of OMB

Ver.C cabinets. Therefore, the components of OMB Ver.A cabinets and OMB Ver.C cabinets need to be stored

respectively as the spare parts for the OMBs used on the live network.

6 Classification Substantiation

1. Manufacture of OMB Ver.A cabinets and components will be discontinued. OMB Ver.C cabinets and

components will substitute for OMB Ver.A cabinets and components respectively for sales.

2. OMB Ver.C cabinets employ new components and deliver enhanced performance and high integration.

By supporting more types of RRUs with higher power, OMB Ver.C increases the heat dissipation

capability. Embedded with baseband units (BBUs), OMB Ver.C cabinets have a maximum power of

450 W. The AC-DC power system capacity increases and the conversion efficiency reaches 96%.

Such features enable the OMB to consume less power and deliver more powerful DC power

distribution capability. In addition, OMB Ver.C cabinets can be identified remotely, which facilitates

asset management and fault diagnosis.

7 Software Version Supporting OMB Ver.C Configuration

Single radio access network 8.0 (SRAN8.0): can automatically identify the earlier and latest versions

of the AC-DC power system in the OMB, ensuring the consistency between the actual power supply

unit (PSU) slot number and the slot number displayed on the M2000.

SRAN6.0 and SRAN7.0: cannot identify the latest version of the AC-DC power system. If OMB

Ver.C is used, the PSU slot number displayed on the M2000 is inconsistent with the actual PSU slot

number.

8.1.1 OMB Ver.C Cabinet

OMB Ver.C cabinets have the same internal structure as OMB Ver.A cabinets on the live network. While

retaining all the functions of OMB Ver.A cabinets, OMB Ver.C cabinets provide better results in supporting

various RRUs, heat dissipation, power system capacity, conversion efficiency, DC power distribution

capacity, remote identification, and component miniaturization.

8.2 OMB Ver.C Component Changes

8.2.1 New Electronic Label Function

In OMB Ver.C, the monitoring board HEUBs in OMB Ver.C cabinets are configured with the remote

identification function. The HEUBs in OMB Ver.C can totally substitute the HEUAs in OMB Ver.A.

The newly added electronic label unit (ELU) is installed in the upper part on the right of the OMB cabinet

door. The ELU reports cabinet version information, which facilitates asset management and fault diagnosis.
