3dcs compliant modeler brings real materials to 3d cad models
DESCRIPTION
Compliant Modeler brings dimensional analysis to a new level. As the primary tolerance analysis tool for CATIA version 5 and 6, 3DCS and its add-on Compliant Modeler let the user turn their models into virtual prototypes, accurately reflecting assembly processes, material deformation and composite properties. This lets the user account for forces and how the specific materials of their product will be affected by the forces, such as gravity, heat, welding, clamping and bending. This presentation shows an example of adding thermal environment and gravity to the rear bumper of an automobile. Find out more at www.3dcs.com/3dcs-add-on-fea-compliant-modeler.htmlTRANSCRIPT

How did this happen?
Vehicle Problems
Solutions
Option A. New cooling systems
Option B. Design out the variation
Gravity – Why Bother?

Unanticipated Variation
When part is released from tooling
Determinant Assembly processes: if the part is supposed to self-support; will gravity cause undue variation?
Component placement and weight distribution - optimize the design to account for the weight of the product
