Instructions for Ornaments of Collection #1Handy tips:

A pair of tweezers, hemostats, stiletto or a tiny crochet hook can be 1. extremely helpful when inserting the buttonettes into the eyelets. (Please see Picture 1 for explanation of “buttonette” and “eyelet” for 3D Ornaments.)Insert the tip of the tweezers, hemostats or crochet hook into the 2. eyelet, grasp the buttonette and pull through the eyelet.A Stiletto could be used to “push” the buttonette through the eyelet.3. The ornaments look and wear better when left fairly stiff. When the 4. design is finished stitching, wash the design lightly so that some of the water soluble stabilizer stays in the design. It is better to hold the ornament gently and allow the water to flow through rather than working at it or scrubbing the lace.If item becomes too limp to work with, dissolve scrap pieces of water 5. soluble stabilizer in warm water and apply to the item to re-stiffen.

Continue Step 2 until all 6 narrow pieces are buttoned together; complete this part of the construction by inserting 3. the buttonettes from piece 6 into eyelets of piece 1. Sit this construction to the side.You will notice on the remaining, unused, stitched piece there are buttonettes and eyelets on each of the sides of 4. the petals (see Picture 3 on next page); begin by buttoning 1 side of buttonettes (indicated by red arrows in Picture 3 on next page) into the adjacent eyelets (see black arrows in Picture 3 on next page). Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all sides are together and center eyelets are attached to narrow constructed piece. 6. General Cut Satin Instructions (page 11) and Cut Satin Guides (page 12); then add embellishments such as glitz crystals, sequins or beads.With 2 of the 6 long narrow stitched pieces (3. Picture 5 on next page) side by side, insert the buttonettes into the adjacent eyelets, continue down the side until all 4 buttonettes are inserted into the 4 eyelets of the adjacent piece (there will be a buttonette at the tip of the narrow piece that does not fit into an eyelet at this time). Continue Step 3 until all 6 narrow pieces are buttoned together; complete this part of the construction by inserting 4. the buttonettes from piece 6 into eyelets of piece 1. Set this construction to the side.You will notice on the remaining, unused, stitched piece there are buttonettes and eyelets on each side of the petals 5. coming from the center piece (indicated by black arrow and red arrow in Picture 4 on next page) and 1 buttonette at the tip of the petal (indicated by blue arrow in Picture 4 on next page); lastly locate the eyelet in the center of the pet-als (see orange circle for the eyelet in Picture 4 on next page).Next, on the narrow constructed piece that you set aside from step 4; locate the unused, center eyelet (see blue 6. circle on Picture 5 on next page) and locate the unused top buttonette (see orange arrow in Picture 5 on next page).

Picture 4) into the adjacent side eye-let (indicated by the red arrow in Picture 4).Then, from the narrow construction, insert the top buttonette (indicated by orange arrow in 8. Picture 5) into center eyelet on petal (indicated by orange circle in Picture 4).Next, insert buttonette from the tip of the petal (indicated by blue arrow in 9. Picture 4) into center eyelet of narrow construction (indicated by blue circle in Picture 5).Repeat steps 7 through 9 until all sides are together and narrow construction is attached to top piece.10. SUPPLIES:Embroidery Thread:

Use the same Isacord thread in the bobbin as the •needle.

Needles:Use an Organ 80/12 Titanium needle for extended •needle life.

Stablilizer:OESD AquaMesh or OESD BadgeMaster water-solu-•ble stabilizer.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONSHoop two layers of OESD AquaMesh or one layer of 1. OESD Badge Master water-soluble stabilizer.Attach the hoop to the machine and select the design of 2. your choice.Stitch the design.3. Remove the hoop from the machine and the design 4. from the hoop. Trim excess stabilizer from the design.

Rinse away remaining stabilizer and allow it to dry.5. HANDY HINTS:For Stiffer Lace:

DO NOT RINSE away all of the stabilizer for a “stiff-•er” lace. However, do note that the thread may appear a shade darker if stabilizer is not removed completely.If you happen to wash too much out, easily re-stiffen •by diluting some stabilizer scraps in water and dipping the item in the solution.

For Very Soft Lace:Cut away excess stabilizer. Remove remaining sta-•bilizer by rinsing under warm running water until all traces of the stabilizer are gone.Note: If lace should become too limp to work with, •dissolve stabilizer scraps in warm water and apply to the lace.

Drying Lace:Lay lace piece with right side down to dry. This will •minimize the tendancy for the lace to curl.

Assemble Hanger:Twist one screw eye into a foam ball.1. Cut desired length of ribbon and thread it through the screw eye. Tie loose ends to 2. form a loop.
