Seco Tools is introducing a new Ball nose cutter designed
to deliver higher performance and better reliability in
copy milling applications. This high metal removal cutter
can handle very high feed rates thanks to a rigid design
and the two effective teeth. K=2. The best cutter on the
market, R218.20.
R218.20 has a unique seating with tenon location to avoid
stress on the locking screw and to prevent insert rotation.
The chip space is large and includes a big radius to make the
cutter stronger in the centre. The insert has two easy cutting
edges on the same insert.
MAXIMUM SECURITY AND RELIABILITYThe insert and body strength gives the cutter maximum
security and reliability, which makes it suitable for use in
unmanned production.
R218.20 can handle very high feed rates, which gives
it very good productivity on modern machine tools. It is
also cost-effective under peak
performance thanks to the in-
sert and body strength. The new
Ball nose cutter is a versatile cutter and can be used from
semi-finishing to heavy roughing operations in all kinds
of material.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGESThe insert edge is S curved to reduce cutting forces,
and has a constant cutting rake all along the edge. Posi-
tive axial rake gives a smooth cutting action and allows
up-machining possibilities, and reinforcement in the cen-
tre makes it breakage resistant. A smooth geometry gener-
ates very low cutting forces by using an adapted clearance
all along the edge, which leads to increased tool life.
The inserts are designed in two different geometrical
shapes and two grades, which make it easy to always find
the right alternative depending on application.
PRODUCT RANGER218.20 is available in the diameter range 1650 mm.
Cutters are available in various shank styles such
as Cylindrical, Cylindrical/Weldon, Seco/

THE R218.20 INSERT DESIGN.For simplicity there are two different edges on the same
insert, the centre cutting edge and the periphery cutting
edge. The picture below shows the different edge loca-
tions. There are also a reinforced edges at the centre to
prevent edge breakage

THE R218.20 CUTTER BODY DESIGN.
In order to make a secure locking of the insert tenons
have been placed in the pocket seat. The tenons reduce
the stress on the locking screw and prevents the insert
from rotating in the pocket seat.
To improve the chip evacuation and reduce the risk of chip
jamming the cutter has a large chip space. In the centre a
large radius has been provided in order to make the cutter
stronger to handle the impact from the cutting forces.

Seco Tools High Feed solution 217/220.21 and Mini-
master are tools for very high metal removal rates and
increased productivity.
Compared with round insert cutters, which are per-
fect for copy milling when using small overhang and/or
machining under stable conditions, the High Feed cutters
are superior when machining in deep pockets with long
overhang and/or machining under unstable conditions
depending on either the machined component or the
long overhang or the machine. The reason is reduced
vibrations thanks to a favourable direction of the cutting
forces.
The High Feed cutters are flexible tools for pocketing
and plunging specially designed for maximum metal
removal rates under unfavourable conditions.
STABLE AND PRODUCTIVEHigh Feed cutters have both predictable and very long
tool life due to the forces being directed towards the
spindle that maximising process stability, practically free
from vibrations.
Thanks to body and inserts geometries, a wide range of

3 TIMES AS FAST WHEN USING LONG OVERHANG
The cutting edges of the High Feed tools are designed
with a very big radius in comparison to the diameter of the
tools. This in combination with using small depths of cuts
means that the cutting forces are directed in the axial di-
rection towards the spindle, which is very favourable when
using long overhangs. The result is also that very high feed
rates can be used without tendencies to vibrations.

Seco offers a wide range of Jabro solid end mills with full
radius and corner radius (also called torical or bull nose)
tools in solid carbide for 3D milling in the market seg-
ments die & mould, aerospace, powergen, medical and
general machining
We offer a big variety in tool diameters, going from
diameter 0.125 mm. Tools are available in several grades
(Carbide type, geometry and coating combinations) to
be able to work in different materials (Soft and hardened
steels, Copper, Graphite, Stainless steel and Superalloys)
and to be used in different machining strategies.
The tools have a high accuracy to be able to reach the
small tolerances and the surface quality that is required
in most 3D milling applications.
Tools are available for high speed machining, conven-

TORNADO stands for a complete range of solid carbide
end mills especially developed for high speed machining.
SOLID CARBIDE BALL NOSE ENDMILLS. JH111 & JH970JH 111 is a perfect tool choice in hardened steel up to
65 HRc and cast iron. The range includes diameters from
216 mm and three different lengths for optimum reach
and stability.
JH970 is developed for high metal removal rate and high-
speed machining in steel up to 48 HRc, for superalloys
and stainless steel. The diameter range is from 216 mm
in two different lengths.
SOLID CARBIDE BULL NOSE ENDMILLS. JH140 & JH440JH140 can be used in steel, hardened steel, cast iron,
stainless steel, superalloys and titanium based alloys.
Diameter range 216 mm, corner radius 0.54.0 mm and
available in three different lengths.
JH440 are suitable for non-ferrous materials like alumin-
ium, copper and plastics. Diameters 616 mm and with
corner radius 1.54.0 mm.
250 SOLID CARBIDE BALL NOSEEND MILLS. JH160 & JH460JH160 & JH 460. Thanks to the new geometries and
the shape of the JH160 and JH460 it is now possible to
perform operations along 5 axes by means of 3-axes ma-
chines.
JH160 for steel (4-flutes), JH460 for aluminium (2-flutes)
CONICAL FULL-RADIUS TOOLS. JHK-RJHK-R end mills are the tools for conical part applications,
today manufactured using full radius (Ball nose) and
big corner radius (Bull nose) tools. JHK-R can reduce
processing time with up to 70 %. Suitable for tool steel
from 3560 HRc and available in radius 1.0, 1.5 and
2.0 mm with taper 1-2-3-5-10-15-30 degrees per side.

DIAMOND. THE SOLUTION
FOR GRAPHITE MACHINING.
DIAMOND COATED.JD660, JD665 & JD670The DIAMOND end mill concept keeps surprising graph-
ite-machining companies. The DIAMOND coatings pro-
tects the cutting edge of the milling cutter to such extent
that a tool life is eight to ten times longer than those of
milling cutters with a conventional coating.
The DIAMOND line offers a wide range of ge-
ometries specially designed for graphite machining
and comprises diameters between 0.212.0 mm. The
combination of hardmetal and diamond coating was
developed in such a way that perfect adherence of the
coating is guaranteed.
MINI. SMALL, SMALLER,
SMALLEST.
MINIATURE END MILLS.JM915 & JM925Micro-technology and miniaturization are undergoing
rapid developments. In order to be able to manufacture
small products Seco has developed a wide range of mini-
ature end mills: the Jabro MINI range.
The MINI range stands for small diameters (0.1 mm
2.0 mm), precision, technology and quality. The MINI
range is a result of continuous research into optimum com-
binations of hardmetal quality, milling cutter geometry
and coatings in relations to the material to be machined.

Round inserts allow the use of more edges than other
geometries, which makes it more economical.

Seco Minimaster for 3D milling is available in 2- and 3-
flute versions, with 3-flute version it is possible to improve
the productivity with higher feed rates, and with 2-flute
version it is possible to minimize the risk of vibration.
Seco have continuously improved and extended the
Minimaster range since its introduction in 1988. Today
the Minimaster range is close to perfect, a unique end
milling system which can combine different solutions due
to the big range of inserts and shanks. The Minimaster
system consists of a broad range of different shanks and
inserts types. There are no other end milling systems,
which are more flexible and varied as Seco Minimaster.
There are more than 600 combinations of inserts and
shanks for each diameter between 6 and 20 mm.
VERSATILE AND COMPETITIVEMinimaster is a two piece design where you can combine
shanks and inserts depending on the application, which
makes Minimaster the most versatile end mill system on
the market. This also means that with Minimaster you are
able to find a solution for almost every application.
Minimaster is a stable and rigid system and there is al-
ways a combination to minimize the overhang, and attain
maximum stability.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGESWhen using Minimaster you have a big advantage in the two
piece design. When the insert is worn out you just put an-
other insert in the shank and you are ready for action again.
Minimaster is also an economical solution since you
are not paying for more solid carbide than that which is
in use.

2-flute inserts can be ordered in many different versions
like under sized inserts for keyway, square shoulder in-
serts with sharp edges or corner radius. Centre drilling,
Chamfering 4560 Or double chamfer, high feed in-

ball nose versions. Inserts for 2-flutes are also available
with CBN or PCD.

Plunging was invented to be able to remove large quantities
of material and is especially adapted for applications where
long overhang is needed, for example in 3D milling.
Seco was the first to introduce standard plunging cut-
ters on the market, which means that we have long experi-
ence in the field and the widest range on the market.
Under normal conditions, a large overhang automati-
cally means that cutting data must be reduced to prevent
deflection of the tool, often leading to vibrations, poor
surface finish and inferior dimensional accuracy. How-
ever, the principal of operation of the plunging cutter
enables high cutting data to be used at overhangs many
times greater than in conventional operations.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGESPlunging is the most efficient milling system in terms of
removing lots of materials in the fastest possible way.
Plunging cutters allow very high material removal rates
which makes them state-of-the-art for roughing in 3D
milling applications.
When plunging the cutting forces are directed in the
direction of the spindle.
This means that plunging has an outstanding perform-
ance when machining with large overhangs. Seco Tools
offers the widest range of standard plunge milling cutters
on the market.
PRODUCT RANGER217/220-79-12 with SCET12-
inserts are intended for roughing operations. Diameter
range 32200 mm.
R217/220.79 with AP16-inserts ( 40125 mm) and
L217.79 with XC13-inserts ( 3250 mm) are intended for
semi-finishing.
R217.79 with XO-09 inserts ( 2050 mm) and
R217/220.79 with XO-12 inserts ( 2563 mm) are
intended for finishing operations.
The above mentioned cutters with XO-inserts can be
used for both up-copying and down-copying in an axial
feed direction e.g. for deep walls in mould tools.
All cutter systems have internal coolant holes for best
chip evacuation.
Plunging inserts are also available in Minimaster in
diameter 616 mm.

shanks, extensions, reducers, adapters and cutter heads
all necessary operations in 3D milling applications.

In dimensions the Combimaster system starts where the
Minimaster system ends and offers solutions of high quality
holders of steel and in vibration damping high-density material
and cutters for many applications in different pitch versions.
The system is perfect for selecting the highest stability for the

FOR MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITYCombimaster is a two or three-piece milling cutter system
with a wide range of arbors and shank types including dif-

cutter heads. The Combimaster system has over 16,000

The Combimaster system has 4 bore sizes M8, M10,
M12 and M16 for connecting the holder with the cutter

holders in different lengths and profiles for shrinking
tools into the tool holder. This technology offers the very

shrinkfit include better concentricity, better rigidity and
