What is holography?
Holography is a technique that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reconstructed.
The technique is to optically store, retrieve, and process information.
Preserve the 3-D information of a holographed object.
![Page 4: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Why holographic display?
A high resolution three dimensional recording of an object
Glasses free 3D display No need for projection screen Life like images Interactive display
![Page 5: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Types of Holograms
A.Reflex hologramIlluminated by a spot of
white incandescent light source.
The image consists of light reflected by the hologram.
Makes images optically indistinguishable from the original objects.
Produces multicolor holograms.
![Page 6: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
B.Transmission hologram Viewed with laser light. Need light source behind
them. Virtual image can be very
sharp and deep.
C.Computer-generated holograms
No need for a real object Interference pattern is
calculated digitally.

Working of a Hologram The time-varying light field
of a scene with all its physical properties is to be recorded and then regenerated.
Hence the working of holography is divided into two phases:• Recording• Reconstruction
![Page 8: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Recording of hologram Basic tools required to make
a hologram includes; Red lasers Lenses Beam splitter Mirrors and holographic film.
Holograms are recorded in darker environment.
![Page 9: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Recording a hologram
![Page 10: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
• Laser : Coherent red lasers, usually helium-neon (He-Ne)
lasers are common in holography.
• Beam splitter: This is a device splits laser beam of light
into two beams.
Object beam (directed onto the object) and
Reference beam (travels directly onto the recording
medium)
![Page 11: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
• Mirrors: They focus the beam on the plate.
• Holographic film:
Holographic film can record light at a very high resolution.
It's a layer of light-sensitive compounds on a transparent
surface.
Ex: Silver Halide Emulsion
![Page 12: 3d holography projection technology (edited)](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022033013/5695d42a1a28ab9b02a084d5/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Process When the two laser beams reach the recording
medium, their light waves interfere with each other. It is this interference pattern that is imprinted on the
recording medium.

Reconstruction of a hologram
The photographic plate is illuminated with original light source used for recording holograms.

Conclusion Holographic Technology and
Spectral Imagining has endless applications, as far as the human mind can imagine.
In future all displays like televisions, mobile phone displays, projector displays will be replaced by holographic displays.
