Reptiles are a kind ofanimal. Turtles are reptiles.Snakes and lizards arereptiles, too. Crocodiles andalligators are also reptiles.Reptiles are animals thathave scaly skin. They staywarm by lying in the sun.Their bodies do not keepthem warm like ours do.Reptiles can get too warm.They move to the shade or into the water to cool off. Reptiles can alsoget too cold. This can make their bodies slow down. When they arecold, they cannot move very fast. Some reptiles hibernate during thewinter. When it is warmer, they begin to move around again. Reptileslay eggs. When the eggs hatch, the babies do not need their mother.Baby reptiles catch their own food. They also find safe places to live.They have to take care of themselves.
