First Sunday of AdventMost Sacred Heart December 1, 2019You're INVITED!!!

Spirit Of Christmas Giving TreeNovember 30 through December 15

The annual Giving Tree program is a long standing tradition in our parish. Beginning Saturday, November 30, Christmas trees will be at the church entrances with ornaments that represent needed gifts for children, seniors, and adults with special needs.

Take as many ornaments as you would like and purchase the gift or gift card listed on the ornament. Each receiving participant will have several ornaments on the tree. If you feel generous, please take multiple ornaments rather than buying extra gifts for your selected participant. This way, all participants’ requests are fulfilled.

By Sunday, December 15, return all gifts, wrapped with the ornament taped securely to the outside, and place them under the trees. Envelopes with gift cards and monetary donations should be placed in the Sunday Offertory collection. For security purposes, please do not leave gift cards or monetary donations under the Christmas trees.

All gifts will be distributed on Monday, December 16.If you have questions please contact: Jack or Betty Lindenschmidt, 636.938-9861, or [email protected].

Thank you for your generosity to your neighbors!

(including 750 bags of groceries collected and taken to the Eureka Food Pantry)• Hours of service by Vincentians and SVDP volunteers – over 2,500

Neighbors we helped:• Families served – 80• Individuals helped – almost 200• Examples of those we help include:

• A single parent, seasonal worker trying to provided for himself and his teenage daughter;• A family choosing to live in Eureka, for the Rockwood School District’s programs for special needs children but struggling to make ends meet;• Single, middle aged men and women – in and out of work as they work to live independently, oftentimes while coping with physical disabilities or mental illness; and• Families living “paycheck to paycheck”, who find it impossible to continue to pay rent or utilities following unexpected auto repairs.

Our Vincentian family:· Currently with 32 active members, while always welcoming “newbies”· Carrying on an almost 40 year volunteer legacy here at Most Sacred Heart· Striving to grow in Spirituality, Fellowship and Service - “To seek and serve all in need so that people are inspired to grow closer to Christ.”

· Ineffective, if not helpless, without the generosity of our fellow parishioners!

Everyone ministering to minors and vulnerable adults (clergy, employees and volunteers) in the Archdiocese are required and asked to register in the new system before December 31, 2020. This includes both those new to service, and those who are currently in service. For those who have already attended a Protecting God’s Children workshop, your previous training date will transfer to this new system. In the new system, all those who have already taken the PGC workshop will need to register for an updated background screening, view two new online training modules on abuse reporting and the Code of Ethical Conduct, and agree to the updated Code of Ethical Conduct. A Silent Advent Retreat with Joy Clough, RSM

Friday, December 6 & Saturday December 7Mercy Conference and Retreat Center 2039 North Geyer Road 63131

This “Praying with Imagination” Advent retreat invites you to step away and allow yourself the privilege of quiet reflection as you engage with scripture stories using your imagination. Sr. Joy uses storytelling to imaginatively re-tell gospel stories in ways that refresh what has perhaps become too familiar, giving attention to the reality that Jesus was human like us. Joy will use stories that can help us experience the Advent season in a new way. For more information, please go to mercycenterstl.org.
