34th International No-Dig Event Final Report

The 34th International No-Dig Event was held from October 10th to 12st 2016 at National Agricultural Exhibition Hall 11th Hall (New Hall). There were 1978 visitors from 26 countries and region in the world and 6160 people-times visited the exhibition during these three days. Honored guests such as Mr. Meng Xianlai, vice president of Geological Society of China, professor Wang Fuming, chairman of China Society of Trenchless Technology, Mr. Enrico Boi, chairman of International Society of Trenchless Technology, Mr. Xu Yanqiu, vice chairman of China Municipal Engineering Association, Dr. Li Xuejun, Director and Vice General Secretary, the China Urban Planning Association, Mr. Jin Yi, Chief Engineer, Beijing Urban Construction Group-Civil Engineering General Contracting Department, Pt spnsors: Mr. Wang Xiangrong, general manager of DW/TXS Construction Equipment (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Mr. Shen Jianjun, general manager of Forward Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. Mr. Song Chunqi, general manager of Vermeer China, Mr. Jiang Zhiguang, general manager of Jiangsu Dilong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. And Mr. Chen Fenggang, general manager of Jiangsu Goodeng Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. presented at the opening ceremony.

During this conference, professor Wang Fuming, chairman of China Society of Trenchless Technology did a report named “Development of Trenchless Repairing Technology of Roads and Underground Infrastructures”, Mr. Li Yang, Chief Engineer of Water Supply Engineering, Beijing Municipal Engineering Design & Research Academy gave a report called “Planning and Construction of City Water Supply and Drainage”, Mr. Li Guohui, Deputy Chief Engineer, Director of Project Management Department gave a report named “Development and Present situation of China's Oil and Gas Pipeline”, Mr. Sun Mingye, Deputy Chief Engineer, Department Manager of Scientific Research and Development gave a report called ” Application on Trenchless Rehabilitation to the Gas Pipeline”, Mr. Jens Hoelterhoff, Chairman of German Society for Trenchless Technology gave a report called ” Newest overview from the latest developments and innovations from Trenchless Technologies in Germany”, Dr. Li Xuejun, Director and Vice General Secretary, the China Urban Planning Association gave a report called “Application and Development of Underground Pipeline Detection Technology”, Mr. Li Yuefei, Utility Tunnel Engineering Expert of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development gave a report called “Practical Thinking about Planning Design and Construction of Underground Utility Tunnel”, and Mr. Jin Yi, Chief Engineer, Beijing Urban Construction Group-Civil Engineering General Contracting Department also gave a report named “Shield Technology and Case Analysis of Municipal Engineering”. All these invited speeches presented by such distinguished guests drew great attention from all representatives and led to heated discussions.

There were ten sessions including “Grouting and Repairs”, “Asset Management and Inspection”, “Horizontal Directional Drilling Applications”, “University Research”, “Lining Technologies I”, “Pipe Jacking and Microtunneling Applications I”, “ Potable Water Rehabilitation”, “Pipe Jacking and Microtunneling Applications II”, and “Lining Technologies II” respectively this year. All the 44 papers from 16 countries and regions were reviewed by top experts in world trenchless community and can represent top quality of world trenchless technology. .

During the conference, there were leading enterprises likes Vermeer China, Forward Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Goodeng Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd, Impreg GMBH, and, DW/TXS Engineering Machinery (Beijing) Co., Ltd. presented their latest products and technology All these enterprises did a lot of promotion in combination with their on-site exhibition and delivered an overall demonstration to our visitors.

There were 81 enterprises brought their new products and technologies to this year’s exhibition, among which there were Japan Pavilion and German Pavilion with support and organization of JSTT and GSTT, and 80% exhibitors brought dozens of real products to the exhibition. We did special decoration for all the raw spaces. We witness a further improvement in the performance, quality and appearance of the domestic equipment on this year’s exhibition. Many foreign equipment purchasers from United Arab Emirates, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries and regions of the world came to the exhibition.

The year of 2016 is the 30th birthday for ISTT. ISTT granted five awards including “Academic Research”, “Study Paper”, “New Machine and Equipment”, “Project-New Installation”, and “Project-Rehablitation” at the gala dinner which was sponsored by Beijing Long Ke Xing Trenchless Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd. Dr. Dec Downey, who is also the past chair of ISTT, was granted Golden Medal to award his long time service and great contribution to ISTT and international trenchless community. This year is also the 20th anniversary of CSTT. CSTT presented “Person of the Year of 2015” award to Mr. Liu Shenglin, general manager of Hebei Hengshui Hongtai Trenchless Engineering Co., Ltd., CSTT also granted the “2014 Best Product of China Trenchless Industry” to DW/TXS Construction Equipment(Beijing) Co., Ltd., the “Best Project of the year 2015” to Beijing Lokng Ke Xing Trenchless Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd., Langfang Huayuan Mechatronics Engineering Co., Ltd., Fujian Province Power Survey & Design Institute, Hengshui Hongtai Trenchless Engineering Co., Ltd.,, and, Henan Zhongtuo Petroleum Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd. and the “Best Technology of the year of 2015” to Jiangsu Dilong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. and. Trenchelss Engineering Technology Sub-Company, Beijing Tianhuan Gas Co., Ltd.

Before the conference officially started, ISTT board meeting was held in the conference room of Sheraton Great Wall hotel. The meeting program included: Present new chair and new vice chair of ISTT, elect three new ESC members, report financial statement of the year 2015-16, decide budget for the year 2016-17, vote for host nation of International No-Dig Event in 2019, and etc. CSTT sent Chairman Prof. Wang Fuming, Vice-executive Chairman Mr. Yan Chunwen, and secretary Mr. Chen Yunxue attend the meeting, reported the organization of 34th International No-Dig event and CSTT work last year. After the meeting, ISTT and all affiliated took photograph and had more communication at Chairman’s Dinner in the evening.
