La Solemnidad de Pentecostes 31 de mayo del 2020

Hoy celebramos la fiesta de Pentecostés. Creo en el Espíritu Santo, decimos en la profesión de fe. Y creer en el Espíritu Santo

supone un estado permanente de revisión y renovación. Pentecostés es un buen momento para darnos cuenta quién manda en

nosotros, en nuestro ser. Veamos ahora a luz de la Palabra de Dios y del encuentro eucarís%co si nuestra vida está orientada por el

Espíritu de Cristo o por el espíritu individualista y consumista de nuestra sociedad post-moderna.

Primera lectura (Hechos 2, 1-11) Escucharemos un texto del libro de los hechos de los apóstoles, en cual Lucas pretende describir el acontecimiento más importan-

te después de la Ascensión: la venida del Espíritu Santo. Esto significa el punto de par%da de la misión universal de la Iglesia. Dios

nos envía nos equipa para proclamar la Buena Nueva.

Segunda lectura (I de Pablo a los Corintios 12, 3b-7.12.13) La comunidad de Corinto, a la que Pablo le escribe en esta ocasión, está pasando por dificultades: hay divisiones entre sus miem-

bros. La lectura que ahora escucharemos nos ayudará a discernir si las formas de nosotros enfrentar las dificultades son o no del

Espíritu de Cristo.

Evangelio (Juan 20, 19-23) El Evangelio de hoy, narrado por San Juan, nos presenta una escena de aparición. Jesús deseándonos la paz y enviando a los suyos

el don del Espíritu y enviándonos a todos los rincones y cada corazón para atar y desatar.

John 14,1-12

Jesus appears to his disciples and gives them the gi� of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church. The Gospel for Pentecost reminds us that the Church begins with the command to forgive. Within the family, the domestic Church, we learn how to forgive and how to accept forgiveness. The gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to do both. Today is a fitting time to share a family celebration of reconciliation.

As you gather together as a family, sit quietly for a few minutes, inviting everyone to reflect upon their need

to forgive and to receive forgiveness. If there is a situation or an issue within the family that needs attention,

spend some time reflecting on how your family might address it. Read together today’s Gospel, John 20:19-

23. Talk together about how Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in the work of forgiveness and

to bring us peace. Pray together today’s Psalm or the Prayer to the Holy Spirit, asking that the Holy Spirit help

your family. Share with one another a Sign of Peace.
