Happy New Year 2018

Just as the seasons come and go, the years also come and go. And each year we have a chance to get a new outlook. A new year brings new opportunities for ministry and missions, and I believe 2018 will go down as one of the most important years in the life of Grace Point Church. But, as we have learned in the past, we must learn to set some things aside, so we can move forward together. New emphases and fresh goals are always needed, but it often means that we must evaluate and make adjustments. Our theme for this new year is related to stewardship and will focus not only on financial giving, but how we use our talent, treasure, and time. Our theme for 2018 is “Growing in Generosity.” The Apostle Paul spoke of the generosity of God’s people in 2 Corinthians 9:11 where he says, “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” As we begin this extended season of focusing on generosity, I pray that God will use it to bring us into a season of harvest. But before there can be any harvest, there is work to be done. The ground must be prepared. The seed must be sown and watered. Paul also spoke of this in 2 Corinthians 9:10, “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” You will probably notice some new ways to give and serve in the church. One of the new ways you can give financially to the church is through our new online giving. You will notice a new link on our website, and in the days ahead, we will be giving out more information about how to utilize this new method of giving tithes and offerings. I hope you will take the time to consider this way of giving to the church. As we say goodbye to 2017, let us look forward to all that God has in store for us in 2018. For the Lord said to His people, “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Think about the fact that God already has a plan for Grace Point Church in 2018. Let’s pray that God will lead us to make the necessary adjustments to be in harmony with His plan.
