3 Year Da’wah Programme

The Aim:

To develop a proficiency and sound understanding of the Arabic Language

To develop a sound grounding in the Islamic Sciences

To develop a foundation in Islamic Studies with a focus on Da’wah/ Community work

Overview:

This is a unique programme taught by various specialist scholars, which will give students

the opportunity to explore the Islamic Sciences, which one would cover when studying to

become a traditional ‘Alim’ (Scholar). The course is a blend of classical and contemporary

academic Islamic learning contextualised in modern day jurisprudential ethos. The lessons

will be taught in English and Arabic. Keen students who wish to continue their studies after

the 3 year da’wah programme will have the option to go to an institute abroad.

The Programme:

The programme will take place over a period of 3 years, with study on a part-time basis.

Year 1: The first year intends to introduce students to the Arabic language, covering the

areas of Grammar, Morphology and Literature; concentrating on the key areas of reading,

writing, listening and speaking. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to develop

their Qur’an recitation through the weekly Tajweed sessions and explore the topic of

Tazkiyyah.

Year 2: The second year will enable students to develop a firm grasp of the core Islamic

sciences, namely: Fiqh, Aqeedah, Hadeeth and Usul al Fiqh. This will be supplemented with

seminars on contemporary subjects

Fiqh: Noor al Idaah

Aqeedah: Fiqh al Akbar

Hadith: 40 Hadith of Imam al-Nawwawi (ra)

Usul al Fiqh: Synopsis of Usul al Fiqh (Ml. Akram Nadwi)

Arabic Language: Arabiya Lin Nashi'een (Books 5 & 6)

Year 3: The 3rd year focuses on a deeper acquisition of some of the more complex topics,

namely: Usul Tafseer, Tafseer, Fiqh and Hadith. These will be supplemented with seminars

on contemporary subjects.

Usul al-Tafseer: al-Wajeez fi ulum al-Quran (by Dr Waddah al-Khateeb)

Tafsir: ‘Ijaz al-Bayan fi Suwar al-Quran (synopsis of the Quran

by Sh Ali Sabuni)

Fiqh: Al-Qudoori - selections

Hadith: Al-Mishkaat al Masabih

Assessment:

For each module there will be on-going phase tests to assess progress and understanding.

Structure of each day:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 6.30pm – 9.30pm

30 mins – Revision of previous lesson

2 hours – Lesson of the day

30 mins – Go over the days lesson and any questions
