  • Bye Bye Birdie is inspired by the frenzy created when Elvis Presley received a draft notice into the Army in 1957. This classic musical also brought frenzy to my life as my first high school acting credit. As part of the teenage ensemble, I sang “Telephone Hour.” I remem- ber the excitement of rehearsing and hoped our set would look like the Hollywood Square boxes. To my complete dismay the tic-tac-toe boxes I imagined were actually 1- and 2-foot platforms across the stage. I was devastated, but the show must go on. The show did go on. When I started my teaching career in North Carolina, Bye Bye Birdie was the first musical I directed. My tech team built the Hollywood Square boxes. I am glad to share it again, complete with updated boxes, this time with the Bishop Chatard community. Our tech crew is known for the tagline, “We’ll take it from here.” Once again, they have. Student build the set, painted, pulled costumes, decorated the lobby, hung and focused lights, and created this program in your hands. They will also run the light and sound cues during the show. They are a wonderful group of talent. That, combined with the talent on stage, should make for an entertaining performance.

    - Ms. Bri Lindsey, MFA

Please - no use of cell phones, flash photography, or unauthorized video recording during the performance.

  • MEET THE COMPANY MONICA BABBEY (MRS. MACAFEE) Monica is a senior who went to St. Joan of Arc. She would like to thank all of the senior theatre members who have helped her through “the highs and lows of high school.” She joined theatre her freshman year due to a suggestion from Mr. Kyle Guyton. If she could be any pop culture icon, she would choose to be Audrey Hepburn. NORA BARTH (ENSEMBLE) Nora is a junior who attended St. Thomas Aquinas. She would like to thank her friends for encouraging her to try out. Her favorite part of the show is “Tele- phone Hour.” If she could be any pop culture figure, she would choose to be Lady Gaga. HEIDI BARTZ (ADULT ENSEMBLE) Heidi is a senior who attended St. Luke. She would like to thank God, her family, her friends, and her teachers. Her favorite part of the show is the music. Heidi joined theatre so that she could express herself through acting and singing. If she could be any pop culture icon, it would be Jackie Kennedy. PETER BELLA (HEAD OF LIGHTS) Peter is a junior who attended St. Matthew. He would like to thank Thomas Giedd. His favorite part of the show is the lighting, of course. He joined theatre because of his friends. If he could be any pop culture figure, he would choose to be LeBron James. FERNANDA BICKEL (ADULT ENSEMBLE) Fernanda is a senior who previously attended St. Joan of Arc. She would like to thank Ms. Lindsey and Mr. Duray for always helping her improve at every rehearsed. Though she has always been a part of crew since freshman year, Fer- nanda auditioned for cast because it is her last show and she wanted to try some- thing new. AMANDA BOGGS (DANCER) Amanda is a senior who attended IHM. She would like to thank her parents and th
