Principal’s Reflection
Dear Parents, Welcome to all students, staff and families to the start of the 2018 school year. I hope you all had a relax-ing and enjoyable break over the holidays. I am very excited about the events and opportunities in store this year and look forward to working with you all. As we start a new school year we ask God’s blessing on us; students, staff and families. Students are now in new classes, the work is new and sometimes challenging but each day we know Jesus walks with us and together we’ll achieve great things. We pray that we all do the very best we can at Holy Spirit; to live, to love and to grow in Christ. Amen. A warm welcome to our new staff members who have joined the Holy Spirit school community this year: Brett Wilson Yr. 3/4 classroom teacher
Angelina Andreou Yr. 3/4 classroom teacher Alex Ward Inclusion Support assistant Helen Wallace Inclusion Support assistant
It has been great to see so many excited and happy faces as I visited classrooms this morning. A special welcome also to the new fam-ilies and students who have come from far and wide to join our Holy Spirit school community this year. I look forward to getting to know you all throughout the year and hope that you enjoy your time at Holy Spirit. Next Friday, the 9th of February, will be holding three school events. These events are our Opening School Mass, our Parent Infor-mation Session and our Family Fun Evening. Our Opening School Mass will be held at 8.30am in the Holy Spirit Church. Parents are invited to join us for Mass and for coffee/tea in the staffroom afterwards. Our Parent Information session will run from 4.30 – 5.30pm and is a great opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teacher, find out about the curriculum, behavioural expectations, homework requirements and any other class routines and planned events. The Family Fun Evening will be held at the Casuarina Swimming Pool from 5.30pm – 7pm. Families are encouraged to bring along a picnic dinner and meet new and old friends. The inflata-ble water playground has been booked for the children. The entry cost is at pool prices. Goal Setting Sessions with your child’s teacher will be held on Monday 12th February or Tuesday 13th February between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. The purpose of this meeting is to have time with your child’s teacher to discuss your hopes and dreams for their achieve-ments during 2018. Bookings for these meetings are done online. Parents are asked to go to the website ( www.schoolinterviews.com.au) and log on with the code (97f6v) and make their booking. I encourage you all to be actively involved in our school community and to work in partnership with us as we teach, guide, care and support your children to achieve their best academically, spiritually, socially, physically and emotionally. A reminder our school canteen is closed this week (Week 1) and will be open on Thursday and Friday next week (Week 2). God bless you all and keep you safe, Mr. Simon Duffy Principal
