Purpose/Bottom Line Up Front
• Purpose
– Present a demonstration of the CMOS electronic tablets being used by the Air National Guard Bureau (ANGB) for cargo & passenger movements, customer pick up and delivery and Government driver’s license
– CMOS electronic tablet capabilities as a solution for HQMC, NORAD-USNORTHCOM (N-NC) and enterprise to deploy, receive, redeploy and provide in-transit visibility (ITV) in a disconnected/limited communication environment
• Bottom line up front
– The CMOS electronic tablet can support N-NC requirements for a capability to deploy, receive, redeploy and provide ITV in a limited communication environment and partially supports USMC requirements in a connected communication environment
– USMC still requires a standalone or mobile option for disconnected CMOS.
o CMOS PMO will work with USMC to refine Joint requirements using the tablet and bring to the FRB members

Background
• HQMC, Dec 2015 Joint DPfM Forum identified requirement – A transportation tool to process shipment receipt, distribution and trans-shipment that provides ITV in
Defense Transportation System
– A traffic management capability to operate in a “disconnected” environment
– Retire legacy AMS-TAC and migrate capabilities into Deployable-CMOS (D-CMOS)
– DPfM-C recommendation: Submit requirement to the CMOS Functional Review Board (FRB)
• NORAD-NORTHCOM/USTRANSCOM J4-LT ITV working group requirement – Identify a traffic management capability to operate line haul, organic, and convoy in a limited communication
environment
– Develop communication options for Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access .mil environment; Air cards; .com capability; satellite, e.g. Iridium. Operate using Windows
– Deploy a portable printer for movement documents with 2D barcodes, e.g. shipping labels, Bill of ladings, etc.
• CMOS FRB approved an action item for a joint D-CMOS capability requirement
4
“Deployable CMOS should be the transportation tool for the processing of shipment receipt,
distribution and trans-shipment that provides ITV for material flowing through the DTS.” HQMC,
Logistics Policy, Distribution

Fielding Tablets
• 8 Sep CMOS Tablet demonstration
– ARNORTH, CMOS PM, HQMC, N-NC and USTRANSCOM hosted by 142d LRS
• ANGB daily operations needed an efficient alternative to fielded hand held terminals (HHTs)
– Not user friendly; difficult to document ITV to end user
– Not compatible with local base Wi-Fi
– Manpower constraints and ITV requirements slowed process of getting assets to end users– needed efficiencies
• Pursued COTS technology to expedite processes w/out compromising ITV– Collaborated with base comm to field electronic CMOS tablets
– Invested in two $3K Panasonic Toughpads
– Immediate results
