Southern Section of AOAC INTERNATIONAL “The Scientific Association Dedicated to Analytical Excellence”
April 18, 2017 Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the 31th Annual Meeting of the Southern Section of the AOAC International in beautiful Atlanta, GA. I hope that everyone can take some time to explore the Buck Head area. There is amazing food, shopping, and nightlife within a few blocks of our location. I look forward to catching up with old friends, and make some new ones. One of my favorite events is the evening reception which features complimentary drinks, heavy appetizers, and live entertainment. I find this event a great opportunity to network and meeting fellow scientists. Ron Johnson, Sr. Manager, Scientific Affairs at Biomerieux, and President of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, will give the annual AOAC International update. In addition, we are happy to have Dr. Randy Culp, Associate Director & Research Scientist at the Center for Applied Isotope Studies, University of Georgia, to deliver our Keynote entitled, “Authenticity of Foods and Flavors by Radiocarbon and Stable Isotope Analysis: Which Products are Truly Natural?”. President-elect Denise Mitchell has been working since last year to organize technical workshops on state-of-the-art instrumentation and techniques from our Vendor Partners, cutting-edge chemistry and microbiological presentations, and the Short Course taught by several scientists who have been involved for years with our community, namely Bill Holmes, Director, Analytics & Process Chemistry, University of Louisiana, Joseph Basile, Director, Food & Drug Laboratory, Alabama Department of AG and Fadi Aldeek, PhD, Environmental Specialist, Florida Dept. AG & Consumer Services. The short course is entitled, “LC Mass Spectrometry for Intermediate and Advanced Users”. Please see our awesome vendor partners, who really make it possible for us to have this meeting. They will be available in the Peachtree Ballroom to discuss your analytical needs. Thank you for attending the 31th Annual Meeting of the SSAOAC.
Sincerely,
Mark Crosswhite, President Southern Section of AOAC International
