A Message from the Consul General
June was a vibrant month for Florida-Japan relationsespecially in the Tampa area On June 13 the Consulate organized the inaugural Japan-Tampa Business Forum It featured presentations by myselfand the five leading technologyengineering companiesfrom Japan namely Hitachi Mitsubishi Electric MitsubishiHeavy Industries Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems andNEC It was great to have local State RepresentativesCommissioners and business leaders from the GreaterTampa Bay Area The second forum featuring the Japanesecompanies will be organized on July 31 at PortMiami On June 28 the Consulate organized JUMP (Japan-US Military Program) event in Tampa It wasattended by Major General Dorman and about 100 US service members and families who werestationed at US bases in Japan along with other friends of Japan in the area It was an occasion torenew our friendship and to reaffirm the importance of our longstanding alliance Both events were possible thanks to the cooperation of Port Tampa Bay I am deeply grateful to PortCEO Paul Anderson and his staff for their cooperation On June 20th Consulate representatives attended Hands amp Earth Six Perspectives on JapaneseContemporary Ceramics at University of Miami Lowe Art Museum The exhibit featured importantworks by Japanese ceramic artists during the last 80 years The exhibit will be on display untilSeptember 23 Ceramic enthusiasts must visit it One sad news I will be moving on to Geneva in early August to assume my new post as theAmbassador Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Organizations ampChief of the Consulate of Japan I hope to see you before my departure

DescriptionYou are invited to register as a Florida Delegate to the 41st Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-USSoutheast and Southeast US Japan Associations Governor Rick Scott has been invited toofficially lead the Florida Delegation In addition to the SEUS member state governorshead ofdelegations senior officials of the US and Japan are expected to attend with total attendanceprojected at some 400 participants
The program will include remarks and presentations by top business and government leadersrepresenting the most significant aspects of the economic relationship as well as ties of tourismeducation culture and friendship between the seven Southeast US member states and Japan Thecurrent US Ambassador to Japan William F Hagerty III is confirmed to serve as the keynoteluncheon speaker this year Florida Delegation will hold its annual meeting of members inconjunction with the joint meeting on the afternoon of October 18 immediately prior to a welcomereception for all participating SEUS and Japan delegates
The meeting will provide a unique opportunity for delegates to renew expand and develop businessand friendship ties with Japanrsquos top business and economic development leaders

DescriptionYou are invited to register as a Florida Delegate to the 41st Annual Joint Meeting of the Japan-USSoutheast and Southeast US Japan Associations Governor Rick Scott has been invited toofficially lead the Florida Delegation In addition to the SEUS member state governorshead ofdelegations senior officials of the US and Japan are expected to attend with total attendanceprojected at some 400 participants
The program will include remarks and presentations by top business and government leadersrepresenting the most significant aspects of the economic relationship as well as ties of tourismeducation culture and friendship between the seven Southeast US member states and Japan Thecurrent US Ambassador to Japan William F Hagerty III is confirmed to serve as the keynoteluncheon speaker this year Florida Delegation will hold its annual meeting of members inconjunction with the joint meeting on the afternoon of October 18 immediately prior to a welcomereception for all participating SEUS and Japan delegates
The meeting will provide a unique opportunity for delegates to renew expand and develop businessand friendship ties with Japanrsquos top business and economic development leaders
