USED JOB SHACK INSIDER…AMAZON… (Continued)

“KIND OF MORE LIBERAL THIS YEAR!”

Have you been convicted of a felony or misdemeanour or been released from prison from a felony or misdemeanour conviction in the last ten (10) years? PRETTY STANDARD SO FAR…RIGHT?

If NO, enter N/A or NONE into this field. If yes, please list convictions that are a matter of public record. Please indicate the nature of the offense, date, country, state and disposition. ARRESTS ARE NOT CONVICTIONS. Similarly, do not include convictions that led to a diversion program or that have been sealed, expunged, pardoned, judicially dismissed or otherwise treated as non-convictions by law. Applicants in California do not include marijuana – related misdemeanour convictions that are more than two (2) years old. HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE… “Convictions will not necessarily disqualify you from employment” So if your previous conviction is not related to this position (crimes related are theft, fraud, some violent crimes and “so” offences are deal breakers and STOP READING HERE…SORRY!) then you are good to go…DWI/DUI’s are only important if you are operating a truck or a forklift… WHAT YA GOT TO LOOSE BROTHERS AND SISTERS? As the old Man use to say…the worse thing they could do is hire ya!

USED JOB SHACK INSIDER…AMAZON

WAREHOUSE Associate at Amazon.com - Accepted Offer – Jul 24, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –Hired direct upon company opening new building in October of 2011. Was time tested on skill to verify accuracy of items. If this was not passed in the allotted time you were excused and could only apply as a temp with Integrity Associates. After passing skill test there was a short interview followed by a drug test. INTERVIEW QUESTION –

• Can you work in a building that exceeds 90 degrees or more for 10 hours?

---------------------------------------------------------------- STOW/SHIPPING AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – JUL 22, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –Went to the Integrity Staffing website, filled out the simple application, and scheduled an appointment all in 30 minutes. A tip on how to dress was to dress casual, but I went in a dress shirt and tie because it wouldn't hurt just in case. At the interview, I walked into a well-lit, air-conditioned, and orderly building where I got signed in and did a quick ten minute citizen test. A ridiculously easy test. Mostly questions connecting well-known movies and books to their respectable titles. Afterwards, I waited for about 20 minutes until I got called by my interviewer. Again, easy questions. Got the job and information for the orientation. After the informative orientation- which included a couple of videos on sexual harassment and lawsuits following- I came back on my assigned first day and got trained. Training took about two hours, which flew by. It consisted mostly of how to do your job safely and correctly. "Bend your knees, not your back", you know. For some reason, my group and I didn't get to go to the actual warehouse where we would be working that day. Instead, we were sent home. On my ACTUAL first day, I went to work with my assigned Ambassador (your on-the-job personal trainer). My Ambassador was only there for a day teaching me the basics and secret hints for Stowing (my assignment job). To cut this story short, in a nutshell, my job is to be a bona fide librarian. Scan the books, put them on the shelf, and you move on to the next book or DVD. Pros: -Pays very well for an entry-level job. This is my first job. My pay is 11.50/hr.

Page 14: 30 july 2013 NEW JOB BOOK

-May vary depending on the warehouse location, but my department is filled with good-natured people in a great atmosphere. And the supervisors are friendly and attentive to questions. -The break room is large and holds multiple soda, hot food, and ice cream vending machines. Also has microwaves, refrigerators and coffee stations. Cons: -The hours are unreliable due to Amazon hiring a boatload of people left to right. Due to this, the promised 40/hour a week shifts are in reality 11-28max hours a week. This might be due to the fact that I was hired at the beginning of summer. Amazon's peak season isn't until October-January, the busiest time of the year for most shipping companies. -Not so much of a bad thing, but in order to keep my job, I would need to shelve 360 books an hour a few weeks into the job. I take back what I said about being an ordinary librarian. This job is fast-paced and you either keep up or get written up enough times to be terminated. Thankfully, I've sped up my rate by 260 items an hour. But come on, the top Stower shelves 750 items an hour?! A computer is probably the best for all I know. Anyway, this job is tedious and slow despite having to stack and shelve faster than humanly possible. Make sure to pack your Gatorade chews and Red Bull for the long haul of 10/hr shifts that feel like ten years. INTERVIEW QUESTION –

• Will you be able to speed up your rate? ---------------------------------------------------------------- WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – JUL 22, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –Application, Phone interview, then in and invitation to interview in person INTERVIEW QUESTION –general interview question none related to work being performed. ---------------------------------------------------------------- WORK FROM HOME CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – JUL 8, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –A little over a week I submitted my application online I got an email from a recruiter informing me of the next step in the process, which was an online assessment. The assessment consisted of four parts: 1) A simulation assessment that took about 30 minutes to complete. It is a mockup of a customer call, it plays audio you enter some information into customer service software such as an order number, verify the callers address and then submit a ticket at the end saying what the "customer" called about. 2) A problem-solving assessment that took about 15 minutes. You can use paper/pencil and a calculator to complete it. 3) A personality questionnaire that took about 15 minutes. 4) A computer compatibility test. I downloaded a program which then checked which operating system I was running as well as processor speed and internet connection to verify I have a computer that fits their requirements. That took about 5 minutes. Once I completed the online assessment I was immediately informed that I was qualified for a phone interview. Roughly 3 days later I received a call from a recruiter who scheduled a phone interview for the next week.

Page 15: 30 july 2013 NEW JOB BOOK

The recruiter called me on time and was very nice to me. I did not consider it difficult the phone interview lasted about 20 minutes and consisted of all behavioral based interview questions. Maybe five questions all starting with "Tell me a time when...ECT" Mine were; "Tell me a time when you had difficult customer", "Tell me a time when you weren't able to completely help a customer with what they asked of you." Afterward I asked what the next step in the hiring process was. He said that he was happy to move on with me and explained that the next step in the process was a background check. INTERVIEW QUESTION –

• Tell me about a time when you could not solve a customer's problem.

---------------------------------------------------------------- WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – JUN 30, 2013 Interview Details –First was just a phone call/ interview. They asked a few background questions regarding my work experience. Then they asked for a one on one interview at the warehouse. This is where they asked a few personality questions to see if I meet the amazon family quality. The interview here lead to the offer. INTERVIEW QUESTION –

• Are you able to work for more than ten hours in one day on a regular basis?

---------------------------------------------------------------- WAREHOUSE Associate at Amazon.com - Accepted Offer – Jun 7, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –I applied online and next received an email to set up a phone interview. Once I completed the phone interview I received an email to have a face to face interview at the job site. INTERVIEW QUESTION –I pretty much expected all of the questions because I researched ahead of time. Just be positive and enthusiastic and you should be fine. ---------------------------------------------------------------- WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – MAY 11, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –Most positions at the fulfillment centers are filled by temp agencies. As long as your IQ is above room temperature and you aren't addicted to any illegal substances, you'll get the job. Interview QUESTION –Every temp candidate is given a simple test to fill out, which tests the candidate's ability to perform simple job tasks. It also asks if you have had any experience with a hand scanner. -------------------------------------------------------------- WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE AT AMAZON.COM - DECLINED OFFER – MAY 13, 2013 Interview Details –Completed online application and usual questionnaire, then received an email less than 12 hours later stating to schedule a phone interview. The interview is on average around 30 minutes and consists of the usual "Describe a time when...in your past employment?" questions. After the phone interview I received another email stating to schedule the on-site interview a week later. Plan to spend around 2 hours at the warehouse if you’re interviewing during one of their hiring

Page 16: 30 july 2013 NEW JOB BOOK

events. Sign in upon entering, get your picture taken, then you're brought to a room where you have a general computer test to assess you (doesn't affect employment), and after that you're taken to a room for your one-on-one interview. The interview consists of about five questions similar to the phone interview about dishonest past employees, seeing coworkers steal, why you chose amazon, etc. After the interview if you pass you're taken to a room where you're going to receive an oral drug test and then Amazon's offer their making you. Following that you're taken on a 25 minutes tour of the facility and then done for the day and told to wait to be contacted for training. Interview Question –

• Describe a time when changes were made at management level that you had to adapt to?

Reason for Declining –The wait to actually be contacted about the job and training can extend over a month to two months; needed a job fairly soon. ---------------------------------------------------------------- VENDOR MANAGER AT AMAZON.COM - ACCEPTED OFFER – MAY 6, 2013 INTERVIEW DETAILS –I applied for the Vendor Manager position and it took a few weeks to get an email response. I had a phone interview with the hiring manager that was very brief (about 45 minutes). I then received an email from the HR recruiter to come in for’ an all-day interview. I hadn’t told my previous employer that I was looking into other job opportunities so it was a little difficult to take a full day off and then it keep changing around because of schedule conflicts, etc. In the end we made it work after about 3 changes. The day started at 9 am with 6 interviews (each for about an hour) and an hour lunch break. I ended around 3:15 completely drained. It is a long experience for sure. Each interviewer was responsible for a different angle, but overall the questions had a similar theme. The dress is very casual - definitely no suit and tie for the interview. The culture is tough and it is definitely the smart kid’s class. Overall I was unsure if the responses I gave were sufficient. You get a lot of head nods and everyone is extremely friendly. Usually you start out with the hiring manager, then a director, then a curve ball (VP or higher level director), then a peer to your hiring manager, and then two additional peers in a similar role to the one you are applying for. INTERVIEW QUESTION –

• What would you do to improve Amazon.com and the overall customer experience?
