With this powerful demonstration boasting a comprehensive and extended collection portfolio of renowned and innovative companies MUNICH FABRIC START will be adding two new halls.
With KEYHOUSE as an innovation and creativity centre and CATALYZER as an extension to the BLUEZONE, the trade fair now boasts over 2,500 square metres of additional exhibition space earmarked for pioneering segments with great development potential. This means total exhibition space has grown to 42,500 square metres.
“Against the backdrop of these complementing segments MUNICH FABRIC START confirms its position as an interactive communication platform. With KEYHOUSE and CATALYZER we have made an unambiguous statement with a future-proof trade fair format for a high-octane market yearning for new concepts,”says Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director MUNICH FABRIC START.
REALISE - WHEN VISION GETS REALITY
REALISE is the trend statement heading the Autumn.Winter 17/18 season almost like an appeal. This invitation to live out your ideas and make them come true is given a convincing platform at the 41st edition of MUNICH FABRIC START. Syn-onymous with this is an, again carefully curated and comprehensive, portfolio as well as an additional exhibition space with two new halls.
AGELESS – a new perspective on fashion
Craft & high-tech, love & nostalgia, comfort & elegance – those are the buzzwords set to reign supreme in Autumn/Winter 17/18. Textiles trends will be mostly about a natural approach coupled with functional, discreetly integrated technology. More than ever before, the focus is on textures and irregular surfaces. Even thoughloud-coloured elements, wallpapers and glitz still serve as key mood creators, the overall atmosphere is turning calmer, more melancholy.

JOY+AGONY
A dark, jazzy foundational mood is taking us back to the warm colours of bygone eras. Retro-romantically, we revel in nostalgia and melancholy. With lots of love and a good sense for the materials, patterns and different shapes from the last decades of the last century, fashion designers demurely and gratefully play with this overflowing treasure chest of textile inspiration. Tone-in-tone patterns in floral and graphic implementations appear inherently muted. But this vibe isn’t complete without a few striking, large-repeat prints.
SUPERIORITY
Exalted in classicism, understated aristocracy and androgyny, equipped with a number of technical highlights, the captivating qualities of this movement flow from its creative austerity. Mysterious bright and dark nuances exude a dreamy sort of magic. Textured surfaces, transparency, rich materials and plain jacquards subtly bring this monochrome line-up to life. Shrouded in sensuality, ambivalent sensations oscillate between protection and openness, cocooning and sexiness.
MERRY CRAFTING
Creative design is the essence of this sporty, colourful, close-to-nature trend. It encompasses everything from amateurish, ill-fitting garments to the perfected art of tailoring. Craft skills come to the fore – be it in a shirt hand-sewn with a needle or in a T-shirt produced by a 3D printer. All the while, know-how and the joy of engaging with our surroundings are paramount. Recycling and responsibility play an equally important role as metamorphoses and hybrids.

With over 100 denim and sportswear brands the BLUEZONE is also more highly subscribed than ever prompting its extension over two halls. The ALL STAR MILLS BLUEZONE in Hall 7 offers an international denim and sportswear portfolio of denim powerhouses and leisure excellence. As usual, the Zenith Hall will be host to 75 brands exhibiting their latest developments for denim and sportswear. These ranges are rounded off by such denim-related products as flats, cord, washed and dyed materials. In-depth Trend Forums will provide insights into forward-looking developments, finishes, colours and styles. Transparent and light-flooded, the area offers a complete new stand system as cross-over between purism and vintage that projects progressive modernity, providing every brand a dedicated cube.
At CATALYZER, the new Hall 6, denim heritage and blueprints will be showcased with a focus on sustainability and innovation. In the new hall 6, 25 exhibitors will present their product ranges in the segments Denim Heritage and Blueprints.
This interplay of key components in product design and presentation is also picked up on by the consciously chosen architecture of tradition dovetailing with modernity. The preserved building substance of solid stone walls is met with lightness and light thanks to large glass domes and open steel girders. The individual and original spatial layout is kept intact thanks to the exciting stand design arising here. „Catalyzer as a supplementary area at BLUEZONE that decisively reinforces and sharpens the range for denim and sportswear. The additional area makes it possible to further deepen product definition ensuring designers and buyers gain even more comprehensive insight into the current developments and creative input concepts
for denim and sportswear,“ says Managing Director Sebastian Klinder.
LIFE IN BLUE
The current denim saison runs under the heading „Life in Blue“. In this sense, Indigo is shown as a companion for our journey through life, a source of inspiration, enacted anew at every stage in life. The ease and fun of childhood, the love of a hobby, human and material relationships, self-protection in crises, the intensity of work – whether manual or intellectual. Dreams and travel memories flow not just into fabrics and styles, but also into the functionality of sportswear and matching high-tech wearables. New looks get created, capturing the details of solemn classics and wearable pieces of art. Last but not least, a party atmosphere permeates materials and outfits.

Hans-Peter Hiemer Business4Brands Consulting: “For our company MUNICH FABRIC START has be-come a key communication platform. Our international business partners use MUNICH FABRIC START togeth-er with us to research the key product trends. MFS is favourably timed for this, especially for fast-developing, innovative brand concepts. We also appreciate the ever successful blend of professional range and relaxed working atmosphere.”
Arianna Morimando, Berto E.G: “The increasing number of fairs dedicated to the denim sector is clear testimony to the particular attention that the fashion business, and not only, is paying towards this sector. As for our German business, BLUEZONE is definitely the most important exhibition. It is the second event in our trade fair schedule, where we go with the new collection. First our customers come to Denim by, but they start placing orders in Munich. This show al-lows us to have the first real and tangible feedback on our work.”
Holger Schmidt, Pierre Cardin:“For Pierre Cardin menswear MUNICH FABRIC START is the most important show as it is currently the first fair where most suppliers showcase not just excerpts or a pre-collection but, for the first time, their whole collec-tion. This applies both to face fabrics and findings. Due to its early date MUNICH FABRIC START has high and constantly rising standing within Europe. As well as its quality exhibitors and early dates, we also particularly appreciate the really great organisation of the trade fair.”
// TESTIMONIALSExhibitor Testimonials at MUNICH FABRIC START in a Nutshell:
Florian Diebel,Hugo Boss :“MUNICH FABRIC START is a modern, innovative trade show where you can work productively in a very pleas-ant setting. Its service and top notch supporting pro-gramme give this show its special edge. A major advan-tage of MUNICH FABRIC START is its location making it possible for every member of our team to come here on a day trip. The line-up of exhibitors is extensive even if by comparison we only visit a small number of suppliers in the clothing segment. We use the trade show to fine tune and finalise the concepts developed for us with suppliers. We observe the trends and the mainstream here and hold talks with agencies.”
Thomas Geiger, Textilagentur Geiger:“MUNICH FABRIC START follows on seamlessly from the medium/high-end ranges already presented at VIEW. New developments pick up on the latest trends and translate these for the further delivery dates of the main collections or second lines of the new season. For our customers MUNICH FABRIC START has also gained importance from season to season. Progres-sively anticipatory season cycles increasingly underline the right timing of MUNICH FABRIC START. Compared with other international fairs this trade show offers our customers shorter distances and lower costs.”
