When I played in HeartBright’s first tournament in 2010 I knew very little about this fantastic organization. After meeting Claire, and hearing her amazing story, I knew that I needed to get involved in some way. Since then I have jumped in and volunteered by running HeartBright’s P21 mentoring program which helps children in the Charlotte area. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’ve also been able to help by being more involved with the tournament from every aspect of early planning to the details on the day of the event. It’s amazing what this team has been able to organize so that you can have fun and enjoy today’s tournament. Thank you for joining us!

Bullseye Shootout

NFL fullback for 4 seasons. Played for the Bills and the Chargers. Played college football at the University of Tennessee where he won the 1998 National Championship and 2 SEC Championships.

NFL linebacker. Attended Va. Tech from 1984-1988, and continued his dream of playing in the NFL after he was drafted by the Buccaneers. One year later, he joined the Lions where he spent 6 additional years.

NFL tight end for 8 seasons for the Vikings, Buccaneers and Eagles. Played college football at Western Carolina and was named Head Coach at West Charlotte High in January of 2015.

NFL tight end for 3 seasons. Played with the Steelers and Jaguars. He played college football at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Drafted by the Mariners straight out of High School in the early 80s. Played two years before his career was cut short by a shoulder injury.

NBA point guard for 12 seasons. Played for the Cavaliers, Hawks, Grizzlies, Suns, Wizards, Bucks, Bobcats and Clippers. Drafted in the 1997 NBA draft (16th overall out of Stanford).

NFL wide receiver for 14 seasons mostly with the Panthers. He was a pro bowler twice and is the Panthers 2nd all-time leading receiver.

NFL guard for 11 seasons. Played with the Panthers, Jaguars and Saints. Won a Super bowl XLIV with the Saints. Played football at the University of South Carolina.

Gardner Webb head coach for 14 years winning Big South Coach of the Year twice. Led Charlotte Rage to first playoff appearance. All winning records with Mars Hill, North Greenville.

MLB pitcher with Indians and played for Charlotte Knights. Went to Myers Park High School and owns a pitching school (Perfect Pitch) in Matthews helping over 500 kids continue their dream.

Played football at Clemson. Second round draft pick (50th overall) of the Chargers. He helped lead the Cardinals to its first play-off win in 15 years. Director of major gifts at Clemson.

NFL defensive back for 5 seasons with Rams and Panthers. Played football at Arizona University. Currently a candidate for the 2016 Election for the Sheriff's Office of the York County Sheriff's Office.

Sports Director for Time Warner Cable News, arrived in Charlotte in 2002, but has lived in North Carolina since 1995, working in Raleigh in both radio and TV.

Played college football at Southern Illinois and drafted in 1984 in the first round. Played 12 NFL seasons with the Seahawks, Lions, Browns, and the Falcons as a cornerback.

A 13 season MLB player known heroics in the 2001 World Series and with three consecutive Lou Brock Awards (stolen base titles)

Format

The HeartBright Invitational is a five person Carolina Shamble with a Shotgun Start.

Carolina Shamble All members of the team tee off. Team selects the best shot off the tee. All players advance to that spot. Each player plays their own ball until they hole out. Record best score of the group. At least 2 drives per player per team must be used. Par is your friend. No hunt rule in effect.

Course Rules While enjoying the invitational today, TPC Piper Glen asks that you keep the following in mind: All lateral water hazards are marked with red stakes or red lines. All water hazards are marked with yellow stakes or yellow lines. Any and all ground under repair is marked with white lines or signs.
