Psalm 23: “Resting in the Embrace of the Shepherd ~ Sheep, shepherds, and pastures … how

can we relate to Psalm 23 today? This ancient Psalm is one of many people’s best-loved Bible passages. Together, we will break open the deeper, literal and spiritual meaning of every verse in Psalm 23. Join us as we come to understand these verses on a whole new and personal level. This presentation is extremely informative, insightful, and deepens our love of Jesus as our true “Good Shepherd.” The handouts from this morning are perfect for use throughout the upcoming Advent Season to inform your Christmas prayer!

Carol Sullivan, Retreat Leader, Spiritual Director

Dealing with Our Spiritual Stuff ~ Most of us, if

we've been around a while, have accumulated too much stuff! In the process of dealing with mine, I discovered some important principles that apply amazingly well in our spiritual lives. This talk can be helpful for both important tasks!

Mary Janowak M.A.P.S., St. Francis Seminary Certified Spiritual Director, Creighton University

(Art/Craft) Creating With Alcohol Ink ~ "Life

is like alcohol ink, respond to it; do not try to control it" Alcohol ink is an acid-free medium which can create a vibrant marbled effect that is only limited by what you are willing to try! In this workshop we will decorate a tile with alcohol ink to be used as a gift or for your own personal use. All materials are included and no experience is needed. We will discuss how this relates to our prayer life. Class is limited to 8 people. Diane Gilles, Artist

Saints Alive! ~ That's what my grandmother used

to say when something caught her by surprise. Well, this month, we celebrate the feast of her patron saint (St. Cecilia) plus the feasts of several other remarkable women from whom we can learn a lot. Come be part of a centuries-spanning conversation!

Donna Pinsoneault

Offering Descriptions...A Feast of Opportunities ...

November 2-3 at St. Alphonsus, Greendale

Life as a Journey ~ Let's reflect on our life journey

as it has unfolded and be open to the next stages. Who are the significant people who have assisted us in our journey? What experiences and events were milestones that helped us to become the person we are today? Our early life involves gaining knowledge mentally, physically and emotionally through education, family and our faith. Later in life we become part of the wisdom community. What does that mean? How does that change the way we live? Knowledge and wisdom are gifts of the Spirit. Let's explore the possibilities of each gift.

Thelma Walker Certificates in Theology and Adult and Family Ministry

Past Director, Office for Women, Milwaukee Archdiocese

Moved by the Holy Spirit ~ Charisms are gifts of

the Holy Spirit given to all. The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines charisms as “spiritual gifts, special abilities given to a Christian by the Holy Spirit to enable them to be powerful channels of God's love and redeeming presence in the World". Have you ever been moved to do something, but have not pursued it because you or someone else talked you out of taking the first step? Are you feeling like you are stuck due to fear? When God speaks to you, are you listening? Join Shelly as she shares her chapter release of Perspective of a Lifetime in the book titled Finding Your Voice, recently published in August. Shelly’s unique experience of raising her daughter Kayla, who had special needs, and feeling a deep call to build Kayla’s playground for people of all abilities has given her a deep insight into how the Holy Spirit calls each of us for the unique work of God. She would like to encourage others to dig deep to listen and to find their own unique voice and to bear the fruits of the gifts given by the Holy Spirit.

Shelly Runte, Author

Rediscovering Mercy ~ Some say that forgiveness

is a lost virtue. We hear so much about God’s mercy in the Scriptures. With the help of some ideas from Anne Lamott’s, HALLELUJAH ANYWAY, we will try to recover that embracing mercy gives our families, communities, and ourselves the light to get through darkness. Come prepared to share your best story of forgiveness.

Mary Osep, Retired Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry,

Our Lady of Lourdes, Virtues Facilitator

Yoga as Moving Prayer ~ When used prayerfully,

yoga offers us beautiful tools that help us connect with God’s all-pervasive goodness and guidance. This workshop will take you through an accessible prayerful yoga practice that will use the movement of the body, breath, and hands to help you unite (or “yoke”) with your Soul. Through the calming effects of this prayerful experience, you will feel more in tune and at peace with yourself, your life, and your God. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat if they own one (some mats will be provided).

Deanna Norelli, RD, CD, RYT

life brings times when God seems near and times when God seems distant. Spiritual direction offers the skills of a trained listener to walk with the seeker through these ups and downs.
