•Each member is a trustee of the fund or a director of the trustee company (if a corporate trustee is appointed to administer the fund)

•No member is an employee of another member, unless they are related

•No trustee or director of the corporate trustee is paid for their duties or services to the fund

•No corporate trustee is paid for its services as a trustee

Your role in your SMSF?When you set up a SMSF, you take on the role either as a:

•Trustee

•Director of a company that is a trustee (called a corporate trustee)

A trustee is a person or company that holds and invests the fund’s assets for the benefit of the members. It or they basically make all the decisions on behalf of the members of the SMSF.

SMSF Decision• Do I have the time, knowledge and skill to manage and administer the fund?

At Lasseter we can assist you by providing you with the trained and experienced resources to manage and administer your fund relieving you of most of the work required.

• How much do I need in super to make the fund viable?

We would recommend around $200,000 depending on the administration and compliance fees charged. At Lasseter we have a fixed price pay by the month solution so you know in advance how much everything will cost.

• Will the other members be suitable co-investors?

Traditionally your co-investors will be your family and in most cases your partner. At Lasseter we are able to create separate investment strategies for each member to suit their unique investment requirements.
