I have known Ms. McCarty for five years during which time she has been working at The University of Michigan School of Nursing Nurse Managed Health Centers. I practiced as a Nurse Practitioner at one of the Centers and has the privilege of working regularly with Ms. McCarty. I also started the NMHCs and oversaw them during my years as Associate Dean at the School of Nursing. Although I only practiced one session a week-and I retired in June, 2011,1 knew all of the staff very well due to my overall work with the Centers. Cari consistently demonstrates patient centered care, is able to work with diverse patients and is highly reliable, responsible, and ethical. She knows when to ask questions, is very capable of communicating clear information to both patients and providers. She takes pride in her work and wants the best of patients and the practice setting. I would highly recommend Ms. McCarty for a medical assistant position. The reason she is looking for a position is that the Centers are closing in Washtenaw County after 15 years of service and relocating to a Detroit based Federally Qualified Health Center, a decision made by the Dean of the School of Nursing. For most of the staff at the Centers, this relocation is an impossible commute and all of the staff have been informed that they should seek other positions. lt is a loss to the Centers that Cari Mc Carty will not be relocating with them. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. Sincerely, ^. Qtu Joanne M. Pohl, PhD, ANP-BC, FAAN, FAANP Professor Emeritus, Nurse Practitioner, [email protected]

I have had the pleasure of working with Cari McCarty forapproximately the past 4 years @ the School of Nursing, Nurse ManagedCenters. I hired her for the position of Medical Assistant Specialist andhave been her supervisor throughout her employment with us.

Cari is a very dependable, hard working and conscientious person. Shehas proven this to me throughout her employ by developing her positioninto more that it was intended to be. She combines initiative; skill andcommon sense to effectively problem solve a wide variety of challengingsituations.

Cari's position requires frequent contact with patients as well as withco-workers and other professionals. She has excellent interpersonal skillsand a friendly personality that makes working with her very "easy" andpleasurable. Cari has also shown skill at displaying consideration andcompassion for others while maintaining a professional demeanor.

I am very sorry to lose Cari as an employee due to her needing a fulltime position. I wish her the best, any employer will be lucky to have heras their employee.

Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance inproviding a reference for Cari McCarty.

Sincerely,
