orporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept

Cwhereby organizations serve the interests of

society by taking responsibility for the impact of

their activities on customers, employees, shareholders,

communities and the environment in all aspects of their

operations. Corporate social responsibility is not about

just giving randomly but about bringing benefits to all

the stakeholders, including customers, employees and

community at large. The theme of corporate social action

assumes pivotal significance in the world-wide debate on

sustainable development. Modern corporations exert

considerable influence on the economy, polity and society

of a nation. In the present day scenario, there has been a

shift from philanthropy to CSR.

With the introduction of Companies Act, 2013, there is a

statutory obligation for the corporates to take initiatives

towards Soc ia l , Environmental and Economic

Responsibilities. The initiatives taken have to be reported

to the company and other stakeholders appropriately.

Objective of the Course

ICSI offers 3 months Certificate Course on Certified CSR

Professionals. Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013

requires every company having net worth of Rs. 500 crore

or more or turnover of Rs. 1000 crore or more or net profit

of Rs. 5 crore or more during the immediately preceding

financial year to constitute a CSR committee. Such a

company is required to spend at least 2% of its average net

profit for the immediately preceding three financial years

on corporate social responsibility activities.

designed to apprise the candidates to the fundamental

concept of CSR Policy, activities, audit and governance.
