    Series Locomotive

    Evolution Tier 4

GE Transportations Evolution Series Tier 4 Locomotive meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) stringent Tier 4 emission standards without use of any type of after-treatment. Part of the ecomagination-certified Evolution Series, this locomotive will decrease emissions by more than 70 percent and will save railroad customers more than $1.5 billion in urea infrastructure and operational costs. GE Transportation has invested $600 million in the Evolution Series since its introduction in 2005.

    70%

GE Transportation will be ready with a locomotive that meets the Tier 4 emissions standards. The first five Evolution Series Tier 4 locomotives completed the first phase of field testing in the summer with success and will continue field testing throughout the rest of the year. The locomotive certification test and application to the EPA will be submitted for approval in time for GE Transportation to receive certification by the end of the year.
